‘No Integrity,’ ‘ESPN Fired Ryan Clark Over This Guy’ — NFL Fans Float Conspiracy Theory of Dan Orlovsky Favoring His Agency’s QBs in Bizarre Ranking

NFL fans are ripping Dan Orlovsky and accusing him of a conflict of interest after he released his Quarterback Traits rankings.

Dan Orlovsky is a former NFL quarterback and current analyst at ESPN. Orlovsky has been with ESPN since 2018 and has established himself as one of the most recognizable faces of football coverage at the network.

The former quarterback is no stranger to being questioned for some of his takes, as are many analysts in the social media age. However, after releasing an article showing his quarterback traits rankings, Orlovsky is being ripped by fans, with a conspiracy theory saying he is favoring those with the same agency as himself.

Dan Orlovsky Conspiracy Theory Sweeps Social Media

Orlovsky is a client of Creative Artists Agency (CAA), and several of the NFL’s top quarterbacks are also represented by the agency. NFL fans have noticed this and are criticizing Orlovsky for it.

The quarterbacks that CAA represents are Josh Allen, Matthew Stafford, Bo Nix, Bryce Young, Drake Maye, Dak Prescott, and Sam Darnold.

While all of these quarterbacks are talented in their own right, and some are undeniably among the best at the position in some of the traits, fans believe there is some glaring evidence of favoritism here towards these quarterbacks.

“6 out of the 7 top ranking QBs at every trait is a fellow CAA client… #noticing,” said Tucker D. Franklin.

“The conflicts of interest are made manifest when you see junk like this,” said Nathan Jones.

“Paid propaganda. U have no integrity,” added another fan.

ESPN was recently in the news for a wave of firings/layoffs of numerous big names, including Ryan Clark, Cam Newton, Tom Pelissero, Karl Ravech, Charles Davis, Bart Scott, and others.

One fan questioned the network‘s decision-making after seeing Orlovsky’s list, saying, “ESPN fired Ryan Clark over this guy lol.”

However, while Orlovsky is getting a lot of hate after releasing this list, not everyone is against him; he does have some on his side defending him.

“One of the dumbest conspiracy theories is that an analyst would prop up someone else that their agency represents,” said Ted Nguyen of The Athletic. “Your agency works for you. What leverage would they have to get you to put propaganda out?”

While he raises an interesting counterpoint, those who believe the conspiracy theory are set in their beliefs and haven’t cared much to hear an opposing viewpoint.

At the end of the day, lists are subjective, and there is no definitive ranking for anything. It is impossible to please everyone, and everyone has biases shaped by their fandom or personal preferences.

The point of lists is to spark conversation and generate clicks and views, and including some radical placements can often generate even more discourse and, in turn, more money.

These fan claims are not substantiated; they are a conspiracy theory, and while not proven true, they have kept the debate going and generated a ton of discourse on both sides of the argument.
