The Indiana Fever is in the midst of another controversy, with head coach Stephanie White facing criticism for the way she reacted to the trans-athlete debate and the recent incident between Sophie Cunningham and DiJonai Carrington.
Outkick founder and noted commentator Clay Travis has now weighed in on the comments made by White in the wake of the incident.
Clay Travis Blasts Stephanie White Following Fever Coach’s Comments on Sophie Cunningham Drama
White has faced significant criticism for her handling of the trans-athlete debate and the comments she made in the wake of the incident between Cunningham and Carrington. The Fever head coach called out the critics earlier this week and said that they were attempting to use “fear mongering” to ‘create narratives that simply don’t exist.’
“Every day, these women put their [expletive] on the line. Every day, when they go low, we go high. Love will win, grace will win, humility will win, and kindness will win. I stand by them. I will always stand by them. Everybody else can go to hell,” White said during a press conference on Tuesday.
Travis appeared on Fox News on Thursday morning to share his take on the ongoing trans-athlete debate and the recent incident between Cunningham and Carrington. He spoke about wanting to buy the Fever and fire the entire coaching staff.
“[Stephanie White] is in over her head. I think we need to go buy the Indiana Fever. We need to fire the entire coaching staff, management, say to Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham, ‘We’ve got your back. What do you need in order to win the championship? We’re behind him,’” Travis told host Sean Hannity.

Travis has become a noted critic of the WNBA and has also criticized the league for its response to the ongoing trans-athlete debate.
The debate started last month with Cunningham saying that she did not support the inclusion of trans athletes in women’s sports. Her comments sparked a polarizing debate, leading to rallies outside Fever games by supporters and opponents of the stance.
On the court, the Fever will return to action on Friday night with White hoping to build on the momentum of the team’s two straight wins. The Fever will face Dallas Wings in Indiana, with tip-off at 7:30 p.m. ET.
