Ben Shelton is just one win away from defending his National Bank Open title after securing a dominant 6-2, 6-3 semifinal victory over 20-year-old fellow American Learner Tien in Montreal. The 5th-seed is now slated to face the 28th-seeded Brandon Nakashima in an all-American final. And naturally, his biggest supporter, his girlfriend and USWNT soccer player Trinity Rodman, was quick to celebrate his semifinal win.

Rodman took to her Instagram story, sharing a Tennis Channel post of the match result with a playful caption, “Let’s run it back 🤤😜”.

Shelton and Rodman’s relationship began in March 2025, after rumors sparked when they were spotted hanging out with friends in 2024. The couple officially followed a series of flirtatious TikToks and an Instagram post where Rodman famously called “Dibs.”
Despite the tight schedules of the ATP Tour and the NWSL, where Rodman plays for the Washington Spirit, while Shelton rises up the ATP ranks, they still make time to support one another in person.
Rodman has been a regular fixture in Shelton’s player box at major tournaments, including at the 2025 US Open. Shelton recently attended a Spirit match alongside Arthur Fils and Hayley Baptiste, where Rodman’s assist was crucial in their 1-0 victory.
In the “Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce” podcast, Rodman opened up about how it feels to see Shelton in the stands. “It’s the best feeling in the world, honestly. I think to know we’re both on the grind, running our bodies to the ground, always exhausted, doing what we love, and then to also be able to be a little like a WAG in a sense, it feels so good for us.”
Rodman added that she and Shelton really enjoy it, as she sees him not just as an athlete but as her “rock.” Being able to look at him during her matches, share reactions, and exchange knowing looks makes the experience special for both of them.
Last August, Shelton captured his first Masters 1000 championship at the 2025 Canadian Open by defeating Karen Khachanov in a 6–7 (5–7), 6–4, 7–6 (7–3) final. That massive victory made him the youngest American man to win a Masters title since Andy Roddick in 2004.
When asked how special it would be to defend his National Bank Open title, Shelton said, “I think, yeah, it would be really cool. I don’t know how much there is to say about it. I love being able to compete at a high level on the back end of tournaments.
“Playing for titles is where I want to be at, no matter where it is, 250, 500, Masters, obviously Grand Slams as well is the ultimate goal,” he added.
Shelton’s final challenge in Montreal is Nakashima, with whom the World No. 10 has a 5-0 win-loss record. He defeated Nakashima last year in the RO16 as well. He is chasing his fourth title of 2026 and the seventh of his career.
