The Buffalo Bills were certainly disappointed to fall short of reaching the Super Bowl in 2025. But hope springs eternal, and there are plenty of sources of hope within the Bills organization entering the 2026 season.
NFL Analyst Not Surprised by Fans’ Frustration with Bills’ New Highmark Stadium
For starters, Buffalo has a new head coach. Joe Brady got promoted from the offensive coordinator position following the stunning firing of Sean McDermott. Brady is now tasked with taking Josh Allen and his teammates to the next level.
There is also a more symbolic reason for hope. Buffalo has unveiled its brand-new stadium, the new Highmark Stadium. On Saturday, fans were treated to their first inside look at Buffalo’s new stomping grounds.
However, the event did not generate much positive attention. In fact, it did the opposite. Fans were quite upset with the new stadium and took to social media to vent their frustrations.
Much of the frustration with the new stadium stems from the sightlines. There are multiple obstructed sightlines within the stadium. Some are obstructed by a glass staircase. Other sightlines are partially blocked by a wall or a supporting piece of the stadium.

Some were a bit taken aback by the design of this new stadium. One NFL analyst, though, is not on board with these criticisms, believing they are blown out of proportion.
“The reaction of this stadium is just, ‘This thing (expletive) sucks, all these sightlines, it’s poorly built.’ If you’re just basing it off internet comments, nothing, and I mean nothing, will ever be good enough,” John Middlekauff of the “3 & OUT” podcast said of the backlash.

Middlekauff’s issues with the backlash stem from the idea that no stadium is perfect. There will always be some less-than-ideal viewing areas in a stadium.
“Isn’t that part of stadiums? They’re gonna be seats at most stadiums that stink,” Middlekauff added. “This notion that the Bills stadium is like some disaster, I’m not shocked at all to see the negative reaction on the internet… Most of these people ain’t ever going to the game there.”
The Bills played at the old Highmark Stadium, formerly known as Ralph Wilson Stadium, from 1973 to 2025. Buffalo made 21 playoff appearances during their time in the old stomping grounds, including four Super Bowls from 1990 until 1993.
Buffalo recently released a statement acknowledging fans’ feedback.
“We are currently addressing internal and external feedback regarding the facility’s operation following the first event. We’ll utilize the next six weeks to refine any details as we prepare for the home opener on Thursday, September 17,” the team said.
