Fever President Kelly Krauskopf Reveals Indiana’s Stance On Stephanie White’s Future As Calls Mount for Her Firing

Kelly Krauskopf addresses Stephanie White’s future with the Fever after growing demands for Indiana to make a coaching change.

Calls for the Indiana Fever to make a coaching change intensified this week, with critics questioning whether Stephanie White had adequately supported her players.

The pressure reached a new level after White told reporters Saturday that DiJonai Carrington’s hit on Fever guard Sophie Cunningham was unintentional.

On Tuesday, Fever president Kelly Krauskopf addressed the growing noise surrounding her coach’s future.

Kelly Krauskopf Sends Clear Message on Stephanie White’s Fever Future Amid Growing Firing Demands

The criticism began to build Sunday when Indiana Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith weighed in on White’s comments following the controversial Cunningham-Carrington incident.

“Ok… The @IndianaFever need to let Stephanie White go. No solid coach would ever take the side of the opposing team’s player who committed a flagrant foul on one of your own players. Terrible coaching!

“The Fever need to defend their players,” Beckwith tweeted.

The following day, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy echoed the call for White’s dismissal.

“Stephanie White has to go. You’re the head coach, defend your players or get lost,” Portnoy wrote.

Portnoy expanded on his criticism during his podcast on the same day.

“Get her out of there. Fire her [expletive] today. I don’t want her back on that bench. Stop defending the other players… When do you ever see a coach in the NBA not defend their own players?”

Ahead of Tuesday’s marquee matchup against the New York Liberty, Krauskopf directly addressed the growing calls for White’s firing.

“Coach White has done a tremendous job leading the Fever and, for the second consecutive season, has us in great position for a playoff push. She has kept our team focused and united, all while under the brightest spotlight our team and our league have experienced. She has the full support of leadership.”

White also addressed the controversy during her pregame media availability, making clear that she believed Cunningham’s play had been handled appropriately while acknowledging the seriousness of the incident.

“For those who have anything to say about the play in the last game, I didn’t see the play in real time. I went straight to the press conference. I thought that play got called right. Thankfully, Sophie’s okay. Was it egregious? Absolutely,” White said.

“When you have a chance to watch that over and over and over on replay, you can see that. I didn’t have that in real time. I take personally any suggestions that I don’t have 100% always have my players’ back. I ride with them 10 toes down all the time, all the time! They know that.”

White also called it a “shame” that critics were focusing on her comments about the incident rather than the “great basketball” Indiana has been playing.

For now, Krauskopf’s message leaves little ambiguity about where the Fever’s leadership stands. White has the organization’s unequivocal and full support.

With Indiana pushing toward another playoff appearance and the controversy continuing to generate attention, the focus now shifts back to the court and whether the Fever can turn that support into results when the stakes rise.
