‘Everyone Wants To Be Travis and Taylor’ — Nick Wright Calls Out Justin Herbert, Madison Beer for Training Camp PDA

After their video from training camp went viral, Nick Wright wasted no time in taking a shot at Justin Herbert and Madison Beer.

As training camp moves along in full swing, teams are trying to assess where they stand with their new rosters. For the Los Angeles Chargers, it is a vital summer, especially after bringing in Mike McDaniel as the team’s new offensive coordinator.

However, so far, the biggest news to come out from their training camp was a viral video of the newly engaged Justin Herbert and Madison Beer sharing a sweet moment on the sidelines. Unfortunately, the clip did not go over well with veteran analyst Nick Wright.

Nick Wright Blasts Justin Herbert and Madison Beer

Drafted in 2020, the upcoming season is a pivotal one for Herbert. Wright might be the loudest of the voices, but he isn’t the only one pointing out the two-time Pro Bowler’s playoff deficiencies.

But with a good supporting cast around him and an excellent coaching staff, especially after the McDaniel addition, it is truly a prove-it year for the Chargers star. However, this offseason has already been huge for Herbert on the personal front.

After it became official last year that he was dating Beer, the two got engaged earlier this summer. Their love was on display for everyone at the Chargers’ training camp, as a video showed the songwriter playing with her beau’s hair.

Wright, on the latest episode of “First Things First,” wasn’t too thrilled about the situation and compared it directly to the relationship between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs.

“What is this? I understand everyone wants to be Travis and Taylor. I get it, I don’t blame you,” Wright said. “They never did this at the practice field. What is happening here?”

As his bemusement from the situation continued, he took a direct shot at Herbert for his lack of playoff success. Wright added, “You can’t have more videos of your girlfriend fixing your hair than playoff wins when you’ve been in the league for seven years.”

As the other hosts, Kevin Wildes and Chris Broussard, also laid into the couple, their disapproval was hard to miss.

Given the professional environment of the training camp and the pressure Herbert is facing, the video was a bizarre watch. However, with the right pieces around him, the 28-year-old quarterback has a chance to turn this story around in an instant if he can prove his credentials, particularly in the postseason.

So far, he’s made three playoff appearances. After blowing the third-largest lead in NFL playoff history the first time around, he has combined for 401 passing yards, one touchdown, and four interceptions in the other two.

As a result, a large piece of the blame has to fall directly on Herbert. It remains to be seen whether this can be the year he turns things around, but the pressure is mounting, and the clip with Beer certainly isn’t helping matters.
