LeBron James is facing more “ring-chasing” allegations after joining the star-studded Philadelphia 76ers roster ahead of his 24th season in the NBA.
However, his agent Rich Paul has adamantly refuted those claims and defended his client and friend’s record.

Several former players and analysts have called out James for joining a 76ers roster that already includes notable stars such as Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, and V.J. Edgecombe. James’ arrival has catapulted the 76ers into being the favorites to win the Eastern Conference next season.
Critics have labeled James’ move a shortcut to a fifth career championship. However, Paul does not believe that the criticism is correct. James’ agent and close friend defended the four-time NBA MVP’s decision.
“What do you mean by [ring chasing]? If you’re punishing him or critiquing him for wanting to be competitive and have a real chance at winning, then that says a lot about you because what else are you supposed to do? He’s playing on a minimum contract. He wants to win,” Paul said on the “Game Over” podcast.
Paul further noted how the ring-chasing narrative does not make sense, because James has already won the NBA championship four times in his career.
“It doesn’t guarantee you a championship, but you can’t have it both ways… The ring-chasing thing confuses me, because he has rings,” Paul added.
James left the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency this summer after eight years with the franchise. He also considered the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Golden State Warriors among others, but opted to join the 76ers as he had more confidence in their prospects of winning the NBA championship.
James signed a two-year deal worth $8 million, and he has made it clear that he intends to finish his carer in Philadelphia. James will be eager to end things on a high by leading the 76ers to their first NBA championship since 1983.
James showed last season that he is still capable of playing at an elite level with strong performances for the Lakers in the playoffs. The legendary forward averaged 23.2 points, 7.3 assists, and 6.7 rebounds per game as he led the Lakers past the Houston Rockets in the first round before their run was halted by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round.
