Madden NFL 27 gets released on August 13 (earlier if you pre-order advanced versions). As reigning Super Bowl champions, the Seattle Seahawks figure to be one of the more popular teams gamers will play with.
Yet, the defending champions may not be as popular as some might expect, and their Madden ratings have a lot to do with it.
Seahawks Disrespected in Madden Ratings?
The team that won the Super Bowl isn’t always necessarily the one with the best roster. While the Seahawks won it all back in February, rosters have changed drastically since then. The Madden video game reflects how each roster is right now, while projecting a bit for the season ahead.
From EA Sports’ perspective, the Seahawks simply aren’t the best team in the NFL. In fact, the Seahawks were given an overall rating of 84. That makes them the 10th-best team in the NFL, at least in Madden’s eyes.
For those curious, the Los Angeles Rams are the best team in Madden, with an overall rating of 91.
As for the Seahawks being ranked 10th? Some on social media feel that’s downright “disrespectful.”

Another put together a meme using Stanley from the show, “The Office,” showing that despite winning the Super Bowl, the Seahawks have a similar rating on Madden 27 as the Kansas City Chiefs, who went 6-11 last year. Ultimately, the account determined EA Sports’ opinion “makes no sense.”

YouTuber Swift, who makes videos on the game Madden, was also surprised by the Seahawks’ rating. He wrote, “How are the Super Bowl champs 10th?”

The Seahawks did lose some talent in free agency. They said goodbye to their starting running back Kenneth Walker III, edge rusher Boye Mafe, and starting cornerback Riq Woolen.
These ratings seem to reflect those losses. But that doesn’t make it any easier to stomach for Seahawks fans.
“The defending Super Bowl champs at an 84 and 10th overall is certainly a decision,” wrote another user on X, mocking the game’s ratings.

One account on X even suggested that placing the Seahawks at No. 10 is “diabolical.”

Some users suggested that EA Sports disrespected the Seahawks on purpose, to help “drive up the hype surrounding the game.”
“They clearly add a hint of ragebait to these ratings to drive up the hype surrounding the game,” an account wrote on X. “I’m done entertaining.”

Meanwhile, Kole Musgrove, managing editor of USA Today’s ‘Seahawks Wire,’ laid out reasons why Seattle should at least rank above the NFC West teams they beat in the playoffs.
Musgrove wrote, “The Seahawks obliterated the 49ers in the Divisional Round, outlasted the Rams in the NFCCG (one missed field goal from going 3-0 against them last year) and humiliated the Patriots in Super Bowl LX. Madden had put Seattle below all three.”

Another Seahawks backer simply said, “What a joke….” in response to seeing the ratings.
While Madden’s release will surely feature millions of gamers flicking the sticks, it’s clear that Seahawks fans aren’t thrilled with the way their team is perceived. As a result, they’ll have to prove themselves all over again.
