The 2026 Canadian Open is right around the corner, with Montréal hosting the ATP Masters 1000 event this year. Alexander Zverev, the 2017 champion, is the top seed following the withdrawal of World No. 1 Jannik Sinner. World No. 4 Felix Auger-Aliassime, meanwhile, enters his home tournament as the second seed amid Carlos Alcaraz’s injury layoff.
2023 finalist Alex de Minaur and 2021 champion Daniil Medvedev are the third and fourth seeds, respectively. Ben Shelton, who is presently competing at the Mubadala DC Open, is the defending champion, having won his maiden Masters 1000 title in Toronto last year. He is seeded fifth at the tournament. Completing the top eight seeds are Flavio Cobolli, Taylor Fritz, and Jiří Lehečka, respectively.
Sinner, Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Alexander Bublik, and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina are among the top player withdrawals. Meanwhile, Jack Draper and Gaël Monfils have received wildcards alongside Canadians Gabriel Diallo, Liam Draxl, and Alexis Galarneau.
After Sinner’s clean sweep at the first five Masters 1000 tournaments of the season, the Canadian Open offers the rest of the field a chance to break through and potentially claim a first Masters 1000 title. The tournament released its official draw on Friday, July 31, ahead of the action.
Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz, and Alexander Zverev Feature in the Canadian Open 2026 Draw
The Canadian Open gets underway with the qualifying rounds on August 1, while the 96-player main draw runs from August 3 to 13. The top 32 players are seeded at the tournament and have received a bye in the opening round. Zverev and Auger-Aliassime are placed in opposite halves.
The German awaits the winner of Lorenzo Sonego vs. Tallon Griekspoor. Meanwhile, Auger-Aliassime, who is chasing his maiden Masters 1000 title, opens his campaign in the second round against either Luca Van Assche or a qualifier. Fourth-seed Medvedev appears in Zverev’s half, while third-seed de Minaur is placed in the Canadian’s.
Fritz finds himself in Zverev’s quarter, and reigning champion Shelton features in Medvedev’s section. Cobolli could face Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinals, and Lehečka has been drawn into de Minaur’s quarter.
Draper, who’s had a tough season disrupted by injuries, would hope to kick off his campaign in Montréal after withdrawing from the ongoing Mubadala DC Open. He has fellow lefty Térence Atmane as his first challenge.
Meanwhile, Monfils, who plans to retire after this season, faces a stern first-round test against the in-form Kamil Majchrzak in his final appearance.
