The Cleveland Browns are currently in a period of transition. In the offseason, Todd Monken became the head coach. Veteran wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was part of the previous regime, but is still expected to play a major role under Monken. Moreover, as was the case a year ago, the team appears to have another quarterback controversy.
Unlike last year, where Joe Flacco looked to win the job, and Shedeur Sanders would sit down the depth chart, Sanders looks like the presumed QB2 behind Deshaun Watson. Jeudy reportedly offered his opinion on the impending battle, and a media member offered his pointed take.
Emmanuel Acho Accused Jerry Jeudy of Sabotaging Browns Over QB Controversy
Emmanuel Acho has never been one to shy away from hot-button issues and controversy. Now, he took on Jeudy.
In a video, whose authenticity remains uncertain, the wideout appears to pick Watson over Sanders as the quarterback that he wants to lead the Cleveland offense. On his “Speakeasy” podcast, the former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker did not mince words.
“Jerry Jeudy, stop gaslighting us,” Acho said. “You are the one that went on live and somebody asked you, ‘Who do you want to start?’ and you in every single angle and form showed Deshaun Watson’s number.”
He added, “You’re the individual that made a choice. Also, stand in it. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with you saying, ‘I want the eight-year NFL veteran, the former Pro Bowler to start.'”

After the video’s release, Jeudy took to social media to share his side, stating that he has no say or influence over who becomes the starting signal-caller.

Jeudy wrote, “I don’t speak on decisions that aren’t mine to make. I support my teammates/Brothers, I do my job, and control what I can control. Let’s stop creating narrative that aren’t there for likes and clicks. I bet this won’t go viral because it’s too positive/real for y’all.”

The Browns need some team cohesion and direction. They traded away franchise cornerstone Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams. Now, the onus of responsibility falls back to the offense. Since his arrival from the Denver Broncos, Jeudy has not lived up to expectations on several fronts, despite a 1,229-yard season in 2024.
First, his yards per catch dropped from 14.5 in Denver to 13.1 in Cleveland. Next, last season saw him catch only 47.2% of his targets. As a lead wideout, those numbers will not win many games. Most importantly, Jeudy drops more than his fair share of passes. In his 34 games in Cleveland, he’s dropped 23 passes.
Regardless of a new coach and scheme amid dramatic roster departures, the Browns still find themselves trying to figure out arguably the most important position on the field.
