It takes guts and a whole lot of confidence to challenge Stephen Curry, arguably the greatest long-range shooter in basketball history, to a 3-point contest. But WNBA rookie Azzi Fudd has done exactly that.
Fresh off making history by winning the 2026 WNBA 3-Point Contest, the Dallas Wings guard believes the time has finally come for a long-awaited rematch with the Golden State Warriors superstar.

Fudd entered the 2026 WNBA All-Star Weekend as one of the league’s best young shooters. She left Chicago with a trophy, a $60,000 prize, and a bold message for Curry.
After becoming the first rookie in WNBA history to win the league’s 3-Point Contest, Fudd didn’t hesitate to call out the NBA legend.
“Steph, if you’re listening… I’ve been asking for a rematch since high school. So maybe this is our time to figure out a time and place.”

Fudd’s challenge came after an unforgettable performance at Wintrust Arena on July 24 during the WNBA All-Star festivities.
Fudd, the No. 1 overall pick by the Wings, defeated Portland Fire forward Bridget Carleton 30-19 in the championship round to capture the title.
She was the only rookie in the six-player field and still managed to make history. Fudd also became the first former UConn player to win the WNBA 3-Point Contest.
Her final round showcased exactly why she is already regarded as one of the league’s elite shooters. Fudd knocked down 20 of her 26 attempts, including eight of her final 10 shots, finishing with 30 points to comfortably beat Carleton’s 19.
She celebrated by hoisting the trophy before receiving the winner’s prize.

The confidence behind Fudd’s challenge isn’t new. Her history with Curry dates back to high school.
In 2018, Fudd was one of only two girls invited to Stephen Curry’s prestigious SC30 Select Camp. During the camp, she impressed everyone by defeating both male and female participants in the 3-point shootout, earning the opportunity to face Curry himself in an informal shooting contest.
The Warriors superstar ultimately won that battle 20-16, but the experience clearly stayed with Fudd. Ever since then, she has wanted another chance to test herself against the NBA’s greatest shooter.
Now, after capturing a professional 3-point crown of her own, she believes the timing is finally right.
Fudd has quickly built a reputation as one of the WNBA’s premier perimeter threats. Standing 5-foot-11, the former UConn star entered the All-Star break averaging 2.0 made 3-pointers per game.
She has already connected on 53 shots from beyond the arc during her rookie campaign, establishing herself as one of the league’s most dangerous long-range weapons. Fudd even became the fifth-fastest player in WNBA history to reach 50 career three-pointers.
Still, challenging Curry is an entirely different level.
The four-time NBA champion has transformed the sport with his shooting range, changing offensive strategy across every level of basketball.
Curry holds the NBA record for most career 3-pointers made and has won the NBA Three-Point Contest twice, taking the title in 2015 and again in 2021.
His ability to consistently make shots from well beyond the arc has reshaped how teams build offenses and how young players develop their games. Whether the Warriors superstar accepts the invitation remains to be seen.
But if the two eventually meet for another 3-point showdown, it would be quite the basketball spectacle.
