‘Why Are You So Sensitive and Emotional?’ — 2-Time Super Bowl Champion Calls Out Ryan Clark’s Reaction to ESPN Firing

Despite his shocking firing from ESPN, a two-time Super Bowl champion is fed up with the emotional response from Ryan Clark.

The firings at ESPN have become a seemingly yearly occurrence. But the case of Ryan Clark felt vindictive and ugly. While he was still on the air, the announcement of his termination came through.

After spending more than a decade with the company, the former Pittsburgh Steelers’ star safety faced a shocking change of pace. However, a different spectacular defender from the 2000s has taken a strong dislike to the response from Clark since.

Ryan Clark Is Finding No Comfort

Given his forays into the podcasting world, Clark still has two major platforms to showcase his talent.  In his first appearance on the air since the sacking on “The Pivot Podcast,” he explained his shock over the decision.

The emotions poured out of him, as he claimed, “I was so good at something, everybody acknowledged that I was… [I thought] that they wouldn’t fire me.”

Going a step further, he called himself “the best football analyst in the world,” further adding to his surprise at the choice. Understandably, he received a lot of sympathy from the NFL world as a whole for his situation.

Asante Samuel, though, was fed up with the emotions pouring out of Clark. Taking to X, the two-time Super Bowl champion called him out on his behavior, citing the firing as an everyday occurrence for most people.

He wrote, “ESPN Ryan, I tried to stay quiet [expletive], but you’re taking this fired [expletive] too far. Why are you so sensitive and emotional, brother? People get fired every day.”

After his playing career, which included a Pro Bowl appearance and a Super Bowl on his resume, Clark immediately transitioned to broadcasting, signing with ESPN in March 2015.

Since then, he’s made regular appearances on shows like “NFL Live,” “SportsCenter,” “Get Up!” and “First Take.” But his biggest contribution came as the host of “Inside the NFL,” where he has been a regular since 2023.

As his stature within the company grew, he eventually won at the 44th Sports Emmy Awards for Outstanding Personality/Studio Analyst. But three years after that honor, ESPN chose to move on from him.

It remains to be seen if the veteran analyst takes on another role with a different studio in the future. For the time being, he still has two podcasts in his portfolio. But given his burning passion for football, a return with some other company might not be completely off the table.
