‘It’d Be Weird’ — Sharks’ Macklin Celebrini Makes Feelings Loud and Clear Over Rumors Linking LeBron James to Lakers’ Rivals

San Jose Sharks sensation Macklin Celebrini was greeted with some truly stunning news this week. EA Sports announced the Team Canada star as the new face of the franchise. As a result, he will now grace both the Standard Edition and Deluxe Edition of “NHL 27” when the game releases later this year.

In a long-spanning conversation with ESPN, Celebrini touched on his NHL 27 cover and the Leo Carlsson offer sheet drama between the Anaheim Ducks and the Philadelphia Flyers. And he also had time to dish his thoughts on the hottest free agency storyline in the NBA right now.

Sharks’ Macklin Celebrini Makes Feelings Loud and Clear Over Latest LeBron James Rumor

Celebrini is eligible for an extension this year, but he’s more than happy to go with the flow. Instead, he’s keeping a keen eye on the sports world at large, and had more than a few thoughts on LeBron James being linked to the Golden State Warriors.

Back in 2010, James had sports headlines eating out of the palm of his hand with the infamous ‘The Decision’ episode. In 2014, that episode turned into a homecoming special with a move back to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In 2018, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer gave us a tweet-length press release announcing he was taking his talents to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Now, as the world waits on James’s final move in the NBA, Celebrini has some thoughts on the league’s most recognizable name partnering up with an old friend.

As rumors continue to swirl around James potentially looking to team up with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, Celebrini believes James joining forces with Curry’s Warriors would be downright weird.

“It’d be weird, just because of that rivalry with him on the Cavs. I feel like they’ve been going at it every step of the way,” Celebrini told ESPN.

“It’d be like if Ovi and Sid were played together. It’d be a little bit weird at first, but I think it’d be cool for the game.”

Celebrini, of course, has links with the Warriors since his dad, Rick, serves as Golden State’s vice president of player health and performance and has been with the organization since 2018.

While the Warriors are certainly in play for James, Golden State is far from the only suitor. A homecoming in Cleveland would be the storybook ending every athlete dreams about, whereas the Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat have also been linked with an interest.

San Francisco, however, is just a stone’s throw from James’s home in Los Angeles, and given his friendship with Curry and Green, the Warriors remain the favorites to land the NBA legend.
