On Monday night, the 23-year-old guard turned Target Center into her personal playground, taking over the fourth quarter to lead the Minnesota Lynx to a 104-100 victory over the Phoenix Mercury.

Miles put on a clutch performance, scoring 33 points, 3 rebounds, and 8 assists, while shooting 10-of-16 from the field (62.5%) and 5-of-8 from deep (62.5%) in 31 minutes of action.

The game was a close contest from the get-go. While the Lynx had a one-point halftime lead, 50-49, the second half was an intense back-and-forth battle. The Mercury controlled the momentum in the third quarter with 26 points, outscoring the Lynx’s 19, and had a 75-69 lead heading into the final quarter.

But the home team turned the tables in the fourth quarter, overcoming the deficit with a 35-point outburst. Olivia Miles led the late surge, scoring 16 of her career-high 33 points, hitting 3 crucial three-pointers to seal the deal.

Alongside Miles, veteran teammate Kayla McBride also lit up the scoreboard with 37 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 steals, and 2 blocks on 11-of-17 shooting from the field and 6-of-11 from deep.

Natasha Howard contributed 13 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals while shooting 5-of-11 from the field.

​As the final buzzer sounded, the basketball world took to social media to praise the rookie’s late-game brilliance.

“THE GREATEST ROOKIE GUARD EVER,” posted a basketball content creator and a panelist from Players’ Choice on X.

One user wrote, “Coming for that top 3 pg spot year 1.”

While another user prayed, “Lord, I’m asking once again Angel & Olivia on the same all star team.”

Highlighting Miles’ efficiency, Timberwolves Muse tweeted, “Olivia Miles in the fourth quarter tonight: 16 PTS, 3 AST, 0 TO, 104.7% TS. ALL IN JUST FIVE MINUTES.”

Real App revealed the historic record made by Miles, sharing, “Olivia Miles just had the highest scoring game by a rookie in Minnesota Lynx history.

In 21 games this season, the 2026 Rookie of the Year frontrunner has averaged 18.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists, while shooting 49.8% from the field and 33.3% from the three-point range.

​With this victory, the Lynx are now leading the Western Conference with an 18-6 record.

They will host the Los Angeles Sparks for their next matchup and look to further extend their three-game winning streak.
