Former Alabama Crimson Tide cornerback Terrion Arnold was released by the Detroit Lions last week after just two seasons in the league. The Lions’ drastic decision came after Arnold was arrested last month on felony charges of kidnapping and robbery stemming from a February incident, with the possibility of being sentenced to life in prison.
Arnold was placed under house arrest in Tallahassee, and his bail was set at $1 million as his future in the league remains in limbo.
Ex-NFL Stars Skeptical About Teams Signing Terrion Arnold
During a recent segment of the “Deebo & Joe” show, former NFL stars Joe Haden and James Harrison were not convinced that NFL teams were queuing up to sign Arnold.
“If he ends up getting on the squad, you’ve surprised me cause I don’t see it,” Haden said.
“Terrion Arnold’s attorney expects him to be on a new team in 30 days,” Harrison said. “Why is his attorney talking about it’s three teams that wanna get him. Where is his agent at? You can say that all you want to, they about to slap an ankle monitor on that boy. It ain’t no team out there right now that’s about to touch that. As hot as it is.
Harrison continued: “And the fact that the Lions released him. There’s some smoke in the city. His attorney can say what he wants to… We got 30 days to see. NFL teams, NFL security, FBI, all that stuff we got access to… they got a good idea of why they done released this man.”

The judge in Arnold’s case declined the prosecution’s initial request for the cornerback to wear a GPS ankle monitor because he had to report for duty with the Lions. The judge denied the ankle monitor request on July 10, leaving Arnold’s existing bond conditions (home confinement except for work/legal obligations) in place.
It was also reported that Arnold’s agent had confirmed that these teams are in contact with the cornerback as he is available in the free agent market: the Seattle Seahawks, Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets and Houston Texans.
Mike Florio Addresses Arnold’s NFL Interest
During this week’s segment of the “Pro Football Talk,” analyst Mike Florio was also adamant that Arnold’s attorney was bluffing about the cornerback’s desirability within the league.

“I tend to believe that there are no teams that are currently interested in signing him, and if there are, they should do it now,” Florio said. “If there’s this land rush of teams that want to get Terrion Arnold, he’s free, he’s available.
“You better move because somebody else will. I don’t think anybody will, because number one, I think he’s getting put on paid leave. Number two, it’s not like he was Sauce Gardner in his first two seasons with the Jets, and if he was, he’d still be on the Lions.”
After being selected No. 4 overall by the New York Jets in the 2022 NFL Draft, Ahmad ‘Sauce’ Gardner was the first cornerback since Ronnie Lott in 1981 to be named first-team All-Pro, alongside winning the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award.
In 2023, Gardner became the first cornerback in NFL history to get first-team All-Pro honors in his first two seasons in the league.
