Jacksonville Jaguars star Travis Hunter had a mixed rookie season in the NFL after being selected No. 2 overall during the 2025 NFL Draft. Travis Hunter’s Wife Makes Stance Clear on Son’s Future

In an Instagram Q&A, Lenee revealed that she did not want her child to play football in the future. A fan queried her on the reasons behind her decision, and she revealed the fear of CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) that plagues the couple. She also revealed a surprising reason for not wanting their son to play football.

“Why wouldn’t you want your baby to play football?” The fan asked.

“My husband and I both are scared of CTE. We also don’t want him to spend his life trying to live up to his father and the accolades he has received,” Lenee replied.

Just a few days ago, the issue of CTE among NFL players was revived when Boston University’s CTE Center posthumously diagnosed former Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland with Stage 1 chronic traumatic encephalopathy.

Hunter and Lenee started dating in 2022, and the latter moved to Boulder when the two-way star joined the Colorado Buffaloes. Lenee had to endure a myriad of criticisms after reportedly being nudged by Colorado coach Deion Sanders to congratulate Hunter when he won the Heisman Trophy in December 2024.

The dynamics of the couple’s relationship became a trending topic across social media platforms, prompting Lenee to deactivate her Instagram account and Hunter to ask fans to stop bullying his then fiancée during a Twitch stream.

After the avalanche of criticism died down, the couple got married in May 2025, just before the Jaguars star embarked on his rookie season in the NFL. They welcomed a baby boy in August 2025.

While Hunter endured a mixed rookie season in Jacksonville, sustaining a season-ending knee injury in October, causing him to miss the team’s OTAs, he is still considered one of the most explosive athletes in the league.

He arrived in the league as a legitimate two-way player, and the Jaguars continued the experiment last season. Hunter logged snaps at both wide receiver and cornerback before his season was cut short by injury.

Hunter finished his rookie season with 298 receiving yards on 28 catches, resulting in one touchdown, and on defense recorded 15 tackles, and three passes defended in seven games.
