LeBron James is a free agent, and everyone wants a piece. Of course, many will enter the arena in competition to sign one of the greatest basketball players of all time, but only one will emerge victorious.
The free agency tour has only just begun, and he may not even visit with any teams at all. Yet, after 23 seasons in the Association, James really doesn’t need to visit any basketball city; he’s been to all of them, several times over. He also has as strong a pulse on the league as anyone.
As a result, James may be getting closer to making his free agency decision.
LeBron James ‘Seriously Considering’ 76ers Offer
James has been closely linked to just a handful of teams in NBA free agency thus far.
They include a third reunion with the Cleveland Cavaliers, joining Giannis Antetokounmpo on the Miami Heat, teaming up with Steph Curry on the Golden State Warriors, fitting in with Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball on the Minnesota Timberwolves, or forming a Big 5 on the Philadelphia 76ers with Joel Embiid and Jaylen Brown.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, LeBron appears to have narrowed his options down to just three teams: the Heat, Cavs, and 76ers, and he’s taking Philadelphia’s offer “very seriously.”
“When the Sixers got Jaylen Brown, I did some research, and he (LeBron) is taking their pitch really seriously. When I talk to teams now, I have a hierarchy of Cleveland, Miami, Philadelphia, and then some teams on the periphery.”

While he’s been taking his time in making a decision, things seem to be evolving quickly. James has not revealed a timetable for signing a contract, but fans in Philly should take it as a good sign that their offseason changes may be moving the needle for the 21-time All-NBA selection.
The Sixers, after adding Brown, a two-time All-NBA selection, appear to have James’ attention. Just imagine a starting five featuring Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, Brown, James, and Embiid. Where’s the weakness? Some might say that only injuries could take a team like that down.
Together, James may be able to finally help Embiid, a former MVP and five-time All-NBA selection, get the ring he’s been chasing since he became the third overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.
While James formed an enticing Big 3 in South Beach, now he has a chance to do something special in The City of Brotherly Love. Then again, everywhere he goes, the 41-year-old has a chance to do something special. That’s just who the NBA’s all-time points leader is.
