The last year has been quite the rollercoaster ride for the Ball family. While the family has been dealing with a number of struggles on and off the court, they remain in the spotlight.
As they deal with personal matters, a unique situation has presented itself on the court. Ice Cube, the legendary rapper and BIG3 founder, has challenged all three brothers in what could be an explosive collaboration.

Last year, a medical emergency led to their father, LaVar Ball, having his leg amputated. Then, LaVar recently announced that he and his wife, Tina, had divorced after nearly 30 years of marriage.
Lonzo, perhaps the most hyped out of all three brothers when they were young, joined the Cleveland Cavaliers last season. However, after suiting up in just 35 games, he was traded to the Utah Jazz and ultimately waived. He has been out of the NBA ever since.
As for LaMelo, he helped the Charlotte Hornets become one of the hottest teams in the NBA over the second half of last season. However, the team ultimately missed the playoffs and then he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a surprise move this offseason.
All in all, there have been plenty of ups and downs for the family. Now, Ice Cube is calling out the Ball brothers.

“You know what it is. It’s the BIG3. We always doing something every summer. This summer, we got a challenge. We got a challenge to the Ball brothers. We want all three of y’all, man, in Charlotte, for our championship game,” Ice Cube said.
“We’re talking August 22, Charlotte, we challenge the Ball brothers, 3-on-3, BIG3 style against our All-Stars. Let’s see what’s up, man? I’ll see you in Charlotte if you want some of this.”
LaMelo obviously has a ton of fans in Charlotte, as he spent the entirety of his NBA career there before getting traded recently.
It seems likely that this is a collaborative event between the brothers and the BIG3, which has continued to soar in popularity recently. For the upstart league, finding a way to get an established NBA star like LaMelo involved could help take the BIG3 to new heights.
