‘Beginning Of The End Of Dan Campbell’ — NFL Analyst Gets Brutally Honest About Lions HC After Terrion Arnold’s Arrest

NFL analyst Rob Parker predicted that after an offseason beset by troubles, Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell is on the hot seat.

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell is under pressure after finishing last season with a 9-8 record and missing the playoffs after being one of the preseason favorites to reach the Super Bowl. The offseason has brought even more bad news for Campbell after cornerback Terrion Arnold was arrested and is facing multiple felony charges.

NFL Analyst Places Dan Campbell on the Hot Seat

During a segment of “The Odd Couple” show, NFL analyst Rob Parker predicted that after flirting with success over the years, Campbell would be fired by the Lions next season after the offseason drama.

“I am now convinced, anybody listening to my voice in Detroit or the suburbs, this is the beginning of the end for Dan Campbell,” Parker said. “A bad season here, and I expect the Lions to make a change because this would be two bad years, possibly not making the playoffs. A blown chance against Washington when they were the No. 1 team in the NFC.

“And a blown chance at a Super Bowl. They were two quarters and a half from getting into the Super Bowl, and even Dan Campbell said it then, remember he was bummed out, he said, ‘We may never get to this place again.'”

Campbell led the Lions to their first NFC championship game appearance in 32 years in 2023, blowing a 24-7 lead to lose 34-31 to the San Francisco 49ers. In 2024, the Lions were even better, setting franchise records for points scored and single-season wins and finishing with a 15-2 record.

The Lions earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC in 2024 but were upset by the Washington Commanders in the Divisional Round, putting even more pressure on Campbell.

Parker further highlighted the Lions’ high roster turnover as a reason for pessimism about next season and Campbell’s continued stay in Detroit.

“Who is the weak link in the NFC North? Is it the Detroit Lions, who keep hemorrhaging players?” Parker said. “Their star center had to quit. Tried to come back, he wasn’t able to, failed the physical… They couldn’t pay their second running back. They had to dump him, let him go on his merry way. Couldn’t pay him. You can’t pay everybody.

“And, as I look at this roster and look at this team hemorrhaging players, it’s not the same from three years ago. The demise of the Lions has started big-time, and I expect Dan Campbell to be the casualty after this season.”

Campbell has managed a 53-43-1 overall record with the Lions in the regular season, and a 2-2 postseason record. After a disappointing season, he fired offensive coordinator John Morton and hired Drew Petzing in his place to return the Lions’ offense to the lofty heights of previous years.
