Eagles Star Cooper DeJean Addresses ‘Conflict Of Interest’ Narrative Over Relationship With Cowboys Cheerleader

Eagles star Cooper DeJean addressed speculation about a conflict of interest from his relationship with Cowboys cheerleader Abby Summers.

Philadelphia Eagles star Cooper DeJean has been romantically linked with Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Abby Summers since the pair attended the Elite Eight game between his alma mater, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Illinois Fighting Illini in March. The speculation grew further when the couple attended the Kentucky Derby together in early May.

Cooper DeJean Addresses Dating Conflict of Interest Speculation

During Thursday’s segment of the “Exciting Mics” podcast, DeJean addressed whether his relationship with Summers constituted a conflict of interest due to their representation of different franchises in the league. The Eagles and the Cowboys are also bitter NFC East rivals.

“I don’t really think it’s a conflict of interest,” DeJean said. “I mean, it’s not like we both play football. We don’t play football. She’s a cheerleader. There is going to be no insider information given either way.”

“We had known about each other for some time. Then we happened to be both in Florida at the same time during the national championship game,” DeJean said when asked about how he met with Summers. “She was down there and I was down there and then I met her there. I believe the next weekend was the Super Bowl and she was out there also and we had hung out there a couple times and after that, we kept seeing each other and hanging out.”

The couple was also spotted attending the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Naval Base Coronado together last Saturday.

The Eagles’ cornerback was a four-sport athlete, including basketball, track, baseball, and football. Despite being a four-star recruit, DeJean received limited offers and opted to play corner for Iowa rather than quarterback for the South Dakota State Jackrabbits.

DeJean was selected No. 40 overall by the Eagles, and he recorded the first-ever interception in a Super Bowl by an Eagles player when he picked off Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and returned it for a 38-yard touchdown in Super Bowl LIX.
