The New York Knicks were the toast of the sports world when they ended their 53-year championship drought by beating the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 on the road last week. The win closed out a dominant 4-1 series and was jubilantly celebrated by fans on the streets of New York.
LeSean McCoy Shocked by Knicks Owner’s Unique Request
In the aftermath of the celebration, Knicks players revealed that the team owner, James Dolan, had requested that the players abstain from having sexual relations with their partners during the postseason to increase their chances of winning the title.
During Monday’s segment of the “Speakeasy” show, two-time Super Bowl champion LeSean McCoy addressed Dolan’s unique request to his Knicks players.
“You know what I’m thinking of right here, though? As a player, your owner comes in, and he throws a joke out there, but then he says, ‘Nah, I ain’t really joking, no sex,'” McCoy said. “What? Bro, I’ve never seen nothing like that, but I will say, he’s been under a lot of pressure for all the stuff that he’s been doing, and he got a good thing going.”
“Like, ‘Bro, we need to win this championship,’ so it worked out,” McCoy added. “Now, the question is, how many of them dudes ain’t getting no sex? Let’s think about that… They was having sex, yes they was.”

Coach Mike Brown’s team had a memorable NBA Finals run, during which they mounted comebacks in four of their five games against a talented Spurs team, led by Victor Wembanyama. In Game 4 of the incredibly charged series, they completed a 29-point turnaround for the biggest comeback in Finals history to cement their title credentials.
Dolan’s passionate speech to his players was released by the newly minted NBA champions, Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart, on Monday’s segment of their podcast, the “Roommates Show.”

“I had this idea that maybe you should give up sex for the next 10 weeks,” Dolan said. “The Spartans… they denied themselves, so they can have an edge. Get the edge. Go home, talk to your wives… don’t tell them it was my idea. But let them know what this is going to be like, what this commitment is going to be like.”
The Knicks responded to Dolan’s speech by winning four of their last five games and going on an extraordinary 13-game winning run during the postseason. They finished with an incredible 16-3 record in the playoffs to etch their names into the annals of franchise history.
