‘Proud’ – Ben Shelton Earns Praise From Girlfriend Trinity Rodman, Frances Tiafoe After Reaching Stuttgart Final

Ben Shelton earns praise from Trinity Rodman after a thrilling semifinal victory secures his spot in the Stuttgart final.

On Saturday, Ben Shelton pulled off an incredible victory in the semifinals of the BOSS Open in Stuttgart, Germany, defeating Czechia’s Jiri Lehecka, with a final score of 6-7(4), 7-6(14), 7-6(6) and three tense tiebreaks. And cheering on the front line for the top-seeded American was his girlfriend and USWNT star Trinity Rodman, who traveled for 24 hours from Sao Paulo, Brazil, to Stuttgart to support her partner.

Trinity Rodman Cheers on Ben Shelton’s Massive Semifinal Win in Stuttgart

The thrilling semifinal lasted 2 hours and 52 minutes, with Shelton saving two match points during the second-set tiebreak to secure his spot in the championship match against Taylor Fritz.

After the match, Rodman shared a clip on her Instagram Story, with her saying, “Give me time” beside a tired Shelton, who was resting on the floor. As a caption, she wrote, “Me after all Ben’s tie breaks today 😭.”

The Washington Spirit forward also reposted a video from the ATP Tour, showing Shelton celebrating the victory. She added a sweet message: “One of the most entertaining matches I’ve watched 🙂 Proud of u no matter the day ❤️.”

Frances Tiafoe hyped up his friend by commenting, “Why we always geekin sooo hard 😂😂 good s**t boy ✊🏾✊🏾.” Other big names in the tennis world also chimed in, including former pros and Tennis Channel analysts Christopher Eubanks and Prakash Amritraj.

Rodman made the trip following her international friendlies with the U.S. Women’s National Team in Brazil to support Shelton in Stuttgart. The world No. 5 posted a Story about it before the match, with a photo of Rodman sitting on a couch alongside his father, Bryan Shelton.

Shelton captioned the photo, writing, “🇧🇷 ➡️ 🇩🇪 and somehow alive,” teasing her about the long flight she took right after her USWNT duties in South America. Reposting it to her own story, Rodman joked, “I’m not 😂😭.”

Shelton and Rodman are already one of America’s favorite young sports couples. Their romance started on TikTok in early March 2025, when they joined a trend to “shoot their shot” with each other. Soon after, on March 17, 2025, Shelton posted a sweet elevator photo of the two of them on Instagram to make things official.

Even with their busy schedules, the couple always finds time to support each other. Rodman has cheered for Shelton at major tennis tournaments like Wimbledon, the French Open, and the U.S. Open. And Shelton regularly supports her at NWSL and national team matches.

Next up, on Sunday, June 14, Shelton will face his friend and fellow American, Fritz, who is also the defending champion of the tournament.
