It has been a tumultuous few seasons for the Dallas Cowboys. From their playoff failures to an injury to their quarterback, before trading away the best player on the roster, the journey has been a rollercoaster for the entire fan base and the locker room.
However, after a spectacular 2025 campaign, their star QB, Dak Prescott, is facing issues off the field. Planning to get married this spring, he broke up with his longtime girlfriend, Sarah Jane Ramos. Now, a former Super Bowl champion believes he knows the reason behind their decision.
What Caused Dak Prescott and Sarah Jane Ramos to Cancel Their Wedding?
Rumors of their romance became official in September of 2023. A little over a year later, in October 2024, the two got engaged. Already, they have two children together, Margaret Jane Rose and Aurora Rayne.
The former is two years old, while Rayne just turned a year old. The happy couple was moving toward a marriage, with a private ceremony planned in Lake Como, Italy. Ramos had even gone on her bachelorette, sharing pictures from the festivities.
However, seemingly out of nowhere, the two called it quits in early March, roughly a month from their planned wedding. At the time, a ton of rumors came out about the possible reason behind the decision. While remaining mum on the details, a representative gave People.com a word.
“Both are heartbroken that they’re not getting married. There wasn’t any rockiness in the lead-up, and there was no big argument or blow-up. It was a mutual decision. They love their girls, and they’re committed to raising their children together in the most loving and positive way. It’s still shocking for them since this happened so recently, and they ask for privacy while they sort everything out.”
However, speculation has continued to run amok about the possible reason for their split. Leonard Fournette was the latest to offer his two cents on the matter. A former fourth overall pick, he had stops with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Buffalo Bills, winning a Super Bowl with the Bucs.

During the latest “4th and South” podcast, Fournette revealed his understanding of the matter. “Wait, I thought it was prenups.” However, the former star running back was firmly on Prescott’s side if the situation developed due to prenups.
He explained, “Yeah, I thought it was a prenup. If you’re saying you’re worth my money, and you don’t want to sign this [prenup], and god forbid, right? No, you know, we don’t [know] it might not last. It might do. But just know if it don’t, half is going with our a*s. Half is coming with her. You can believe that.”
Previously, too, rumors of a prenup causing the two to part ways made the rounds. At the time, Ramos acknowledged those rumors and revealed on an Instagram reel, “This had nothing to do with a prenup. I hope we can put that rumor to rest now.”
The exact details still remain unclear. But the superstar quarterback of the marquee franchise in the sport is going to have an added level of attention, this time in his private life, until the noise quiets down in the coming months.
