Fresh off securing his long-awaited Grand Slam title, Zverev arrived at the TNT broadcasting desk with the Coupe des Mousquetaires in hand. However, rather than answering the usual ‘How did you feel?’ questions right away, the newly crowned French Open champion immediately set his sights on former American tennis star-turned-analyst Sam Querrey in a viral banter.

In the post-match coverage, Querrey kicked off the interview with a standard greeting. Zverev was quick to shut that down.
Querrey: “Sam here. Well done. Congratulations.”
Zverev: “Sam who?”
Querrey: “Sam Q.”
Zverev: “Why are you on this channel? Who hired you? Why are you here? You got all the champions, and then you got Sam Querrey.”
The roast left the rest of the broadcast desk in laughter, and Querrey immediately tried to steer the conversation back to the match, asking Zverev about his emotions after the final point.
Querrey: “When that final overhead went long, did you feel more relief from within or more excitement?”
Zverev, however, wasn’t quite done settling old scores. He continued, “First of all, I’m very happy that I’m holding this… Because you said I never will… so thank you very much for your confidence.”
The German then smiled and pulled back the curtain on his dynamic with the former Wimbledon semifinalist, clarifying that it was all in good fun. “For the people that don’t know, we have a love-hate relationship. I actually love it. I love giving you a hard time.”
