Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark has embraced the limelight as one of the most popular players amid the surge in women’s basketball in the current era.
Her marketing impact extended to the 2026 NBA Finals, with the Fever guard prominently featured in various advertisements during the first two games between the San Antonio Spurs and the New York Knicks.
Caitlin Clark Opens Up on Knicks Fans Celebrating New York’s 2-0 Lead
During a media availability session before the Fever played the New York Liberty on Saturday at Barclays Center, Clark revealed her admiration for the Knicks supporters who celebrated outside Madison Square Garden after a watch party following New York’s Game 2 win.
Clark disclosed that she was in New York on Friday night, having dinner with teammate Lexie Hull. The two saw how ecstatic the Knicks fans were, and Clark admitted she initially considered going to MSG to check out the festive atmosphere.
“And I was joking with Lexie (Hull), I’m like, ‘man, we should have got gone right outside MSG after they won,’ because I always want to see those people … where they’re like jumping around on each other and climbing light poles,” Clark said.
The Fever star also indicated that she dreams of becoming part of these kinds of crowd celebrations in the future.
“I feel like that would be the experience. I don’t know if my security guy would let me do that, but I want to… because those Knicks fans are so passionate and crazy. I admire it. It’s pretty awesome,” she added.
New York overcame San Antonio’s home-court edge with a thrilling 105-104 win, extending their playoff winning streak to 13.
As the Knicks host the next two games, another series sweep is already on the minds of many pundits and fans online.
However, calling herself “a fan of basketball,” Clark said she wants the series to go the full route.
“I don’t want the Knicks to sweep it. I’m kind of indifferent on who wins, but I’m just such a basketball fan that I would love to see it go to seven games just because I love it,” Clark said. “I think it’s been such a great series.”
Clark’s appreciation for that high-stakes championship environment comes as she navigates her own production difficulties. She shot a shocking 4-of-14 from the floor and battled foul trouble before finishing with 10 points in Indiana’s 83-75 loss to the Liberty.
While Clark struggled to find her rhythm, Breanna Stewart capitalized on the Fever’s issues by pouring in 30 points and sinking 18 of her 21 free-throw attempts to fuel a decisive fourth-quarter comeback.
Indiana will try to find some stability and clean up its late-game execution when it travels to face the Washington Mystics on Monday night.
