‘Very Difficult’ — Insider Gives Lane Kiffin Sad News As Ed Orgeron Quietly Failing To Flip 5-Star Recruit

Sam Spiegelman delivers a major recruiting update, raising serious questions about a potential Jalen Brewster flip to Lane Kiffin's LSU.

This past weekend, all eyes were fixed on 5-star defensive lineman Jalen Brewster, the crown jewel of the 2027 cycle. Despite Brewster being firmly committed to Joey McGuire and Texas Tech since October 2025, Lane Kiffin and Ed Orgeron are actively attempting to orchestrate a monumental flip.

Is Lane Kiffin and LSU’s Push With Ed Orgeron Enough to Flip Jalen Brewster?

However, according to national recruiting insider Sam Spiegelman, those blue-blood programs are running into a brick wall in West Texas. Spiegelman threw cold water on the flipping narrative.

He said, “First of all, it’s going to be very difficult to knock Jalen Brewster off of his commitment to Texas Tech… I don’t think there’s a relationship in the country as strong as Jalen Brewster and Joey McGuire and James Blanchard over there in Lubbock.”

Spiegelman also noted that Brewster would take his final official visit June 19 to West Texas before any final decision. But staff continuity and a deep-rooted Texas connection give the Red Raiders a massive advantage, keeping Brewster insulated from traditional SEC poaching tactics.

The news comes as a particularly tough pill to swallow for Kiffin and the LSU Tigers. After taking over the LSU program following a highly successful stint at Ole Miss, Kiffin has been aggressive on the trail, hosting Brewster for a massive official visit weekend in Baton Rouge alongside other elite 2027 prospects like 5-star wideout Easton Royal.

Clips recently surfaced of Coach O working out and hanging out with Brewster, generating immense social media buzz. But despite the massive hype generated by Kiffin’s staff, the insider reality check indicates that getting a signed letter of intent is an uphill battle.

“I had some dialogue with some other coaches around the country that Ed Orgeron might have been even more stoked about the opportunity to work out and hang out with Jalen Brewster than vice versa,” Spiegelman added.

“It’s going to be hard to knock off Texas Tech, but LSU is getting one of these final visits along with Florida before he wraps up his recruitment. I think they’re going to make some noise, but again, it’ll be very difficult to move him off of his commitment to the Red Raiders,” he concluded.

LSU and Florida remain in pursuit of the 5-star phenom. Additionally, programs like Indiana, where Brewster holds deep roots in the Hoosier State, and local option SMU continue to flex their respective momentum. Still, all roads lead back to Lubbock.
