‘What Planet Are You On’ — George Kittle Sidesteps Dianna Russini-Mike Vrabel Scandal After Being Put On Spot

49ers star George Kittle flawlessly dodged a sudden, messy question around the Mike Vrabel-Dianna Russini scandal on social media.

George Kittle’s larger-than-life personality often takes center stage off the football field. But due to the same high-energy antics, the San Francisco 49ers tight end nearly fell into a social media trap. What started as a relaxed, fun defense of fellow NFL superstar Travis Kelce quickly turned into a comment showdown. But Kittle wisely sidestepped and extricated himself from the off-season’s most polarizing controversies.

George Kittle Expertly Dodges Sudden Mike Vrabel-Dianna Russini Trap

The digital clash kicked off after sports analyst and host of the “Last Men Standing” podcast, Tony Farmer, took a swipe at Kelce following the Kansas City Chiefs star’s attendance at Game 3 of the Conference Finals between the New York Knicks and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday. In a viral video, Kelce was seen chugging a beer courtside to hype up the crowd.

Farmer quoted the post and wrote, “Travis Kelce looking and acting like a teenager who just discovered alcohol is the farthest thing from a role model I can imagine.”

Kittle, in his trademark playfulness, decided to cool the temperature with a casual reply, “Tony, you gotta chill out, man. Maybe have fun? Idk.”

But this only made Farmer shift gears, who changed the topic and tried to bait the 7-time Pro Bowler into commenting about the Dianna Russini-Mike Vrabel scandal.

The controversy erupted during the offseason earlier this year in April, after photos of the Patriots’ head coach, Mike Vrabel, and former The Athletic’s NFL Senior insider Dianna Russini were circulated online, drawing widespread attention and speculation about the nature of their professional relationship.

Farmer asked, “I’ll never call anyone out for chugging beers or call it immature as long as I live if I can get an honest 2 sentence reaction from you on the Dianna Russini situation. You’ve called her reporting out before, I have to assume you have opinions?”

Kittle was quick on the take and defended himself, “What in the world do those two things have to do with each other? What planet are you on Tony. Trav is at his team’s playoff game and getting the crowd hype. They sell beer at stadiums. Bud Light is an NFL sponsor. It’s ok to have a good time responsibly.”

But Farmer didn’t let it go, calling the entire situation a planned advertising ploy for Garage Beer, a brand Kelce co-owns. Kittle, in an attempt to keep things light, wrapped up the conversation with, “This is a big moment for Tony. I’m glad he’s capitalizing. Good for him. We are rooting for him. Anyways, check us at the sold out crowd in Melbourne this fall.”

With these final words, the 32-year-old veteran successfully navigated the controversial minefield that could have landed him in deep water if the wrong words had been posted.

Kittle is currently recovering from a torn right Achilles tendon that he sustained during the playoffs last season. With the recovery progressing well, both he and the team are optimistic that the tight end will make a full comeback for the 2026 season.
