Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future with the Milwaukee Bucks will be the defining storyline of the NBA offseason. The Milwaukee Bucks are actively listening to trade offers for the two-time MVP after another disappointing season ended without a playoff berth.
The Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers, and New York Knicks have all explored potential trade scenarios. However, the Miami Heat, who also missed the postseason, have emerged as arguably the most aggressive suitor, and six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Chad Johnson believes the deal is already as good as done.
Chad Johnson Says Giannis Antetokounmpo Is Already House Shopping in Miami
Johnson, who lives in Miami and is well-connected in the city’s sports and entertainment circles, made the claim about Antetokounmpo on the “Nightcap” podcast.
“As I’ve told y’all, I think during the season, early in the season, that Giannis was already searching for a house down here in Miami,” Johnson said. “I just didn’t want to mess up the conversation. So he will be down here in Miami.”
“Giannis is damn near, it’s in the bag,” Johnson added. “Because the realtor who’s looking for the house, you know what? I don’t want to spill too much beans, but they, they house shopping and all that. I know I play around a lot, but ain’t too many times I’ve been wrong when it comes to predicting and telling y’all where people are going because of the conversation I had behind closed doors.”

According to Gery Woelfel, the Heat are reportedly offering Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel’el Ware, the No. 13 pick, and two future first-round picks for Antetokounmpo.
If the rumored package is true, it would give Milwaukee an All-Star-caliber scorer in Herro, two promising young players on cost-controlled deals, and three first-round selections for its rebuild.
A move to Miami would make basketball sense for Antetokounmpo on multiple levels. He’d remain in the Eastern Conference, where the path to the NBA Finals is widely considered less daunting than the Western Conference gauntlet currently featuring the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder, Victor Wembanyama’s San Antonio Spurs, and a deep group of contenders.

Miami’s geographic position also carries a practical advantage for a player with deep roots in Athens. South Florida is significantly closer to Greece than Minneapolis, San Francisco, or Los Angeles, which makes international travel for him and his family far more manageable.
As of now, Miami appears to be in the driver’s seat. However, the Western Conference Finals between the Thunder and Spurs could reshape the entire landscape. If San Antonio eliminates OKC, the Thunder could pivot toward acquiring Antetokounmpo as a direct counter to Wembanyama’s rise.
Oklahoma City has the young players and draft capital to assemble a package that Miami simply cannot match. Milwaukee could ultimately accept the best offer available, and a desperate, freshly eliminated Thunder franchise can easily win the bidding war.
It will be interesting to see whether Johnson’s insider information proves accurate or whether another team changes the equation entirely. The NBA Draft on June 23 looms as an unofficial deadline for Milwaukee to make its decision on Antetokounmpo’s future.
