Top athletes, including defending champion Coco Gauff, and last year’s finalists Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka have arrived in Paris for the 2026 French Open. Across the fortnight, Stade Roland Garros will witness thrilling encounters, as men and women contest the 128-player singles draw, with doubles specialists also bidding for titles in the men’s, women’s, and mixed categories.
The draw for the second Grand Slam of the year was released on Thursday, May 21, with World No. 1s Sinner and Sabalenka as the top seeds in singles. The qualifiers and lucky losers have yet to be placed at the time of publishing.
French Open 2026 Men’s Singles Draw, Featuring Jannik Sinner
While men’s singles defending champion Carlos Alcaraz has abandoned his title defense due to a wrist injury, several other top stars are in pursuit of their first titles at the tournament.
Sinner, who came within a whisker of completing the Career Grand Slam last year when he held three championship points against Alcaraz, will look to chase the elusive feat again this year. Seeded first, the Italian faces French wildcard Clement Tabur in his opening match.
Second seed Alexander Zverev, meanwhile, faces a tricky first-round opponent in another local, Benjamin Bonzi. Three-time champion Novak Djokovic has also been allotted a tough opponent in yet another Frenchman, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
Fourth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime begins his campaign against Germany’s Daniel Altmaier, who has a noteworthy record at the tournament, having reached the fourth round twice, just like his Canadian opponent.
Local favorite Gaël Monfils is preparing for his final run at the tournament ahead of his retirement. He faces compatriot Hugo Gaston. Also competing for the final time is former champion Stan Wawrinka, who has drawn a dangerous opponent, top Frenchman Arthur Fils.

2026 Women’s Singles Draw, Featuring Aryna Sabalenka
On the women’s side, Sabalenka, the 2025 finalist, headlines the French Open. She is chasing her first title at the tournament, having yet to win a single Grand Slam on a natural surface. She begins her run against Jessica Bouzas Maneiro. Sabalenka also faces a threat to her World No. 1 ranking, with Elena Rybakina knocking on the door.
Second seed Rybakina is bidding for her second consecutive Grand Slam after winning this year’s Australian Open. She has drawn Slovenia’s Veronika Erjavec in the first round. Third seed Iga ÅšwiÄ…tek is on the hunt for her first title of 2026 and her fourth at the tournament. One of the favorites to go all the way, the Pole begins her campaign against Australian wildcard Emerson Jones.
Reigning champion Gauff is the fourth seed at the French Open. After a strong run in Rome, where she reached the final, the American would look to carry the momentum during her title defense. Drawn is Sabalenka’s half, Gauff faces compatriot and doubles specialist Taylor Townsend in the opener.
