Carlos Alcaraz has left a noticeable void on the ATP Tour since sustaining a wrist injury at the Barcelona Open, which forced him to pull out of the Masters 1000 events in Madrid and Rome and abandon his French Open title defense. The Spaniard has now disclosed that he will also miss the grass season, prompting an outpouring of support from the tennis community.
Tennis Community Rallies Around Carlos Alcaraz After His Wimbledon Withdrawal
Although Alcaraz was initially expected to make his return at the Queen’s Club Championship after his injury layoff, he shared the disappointing news that he will have to sit out the entire grass-court swing, including the Wimbledon Championships, as he continues his recovery.
“My recovery is going well and I’m feeling much better, but unfortunately I’m still not ready to compete, which is why I have to withdraw from the grass-court swing at Queen’s and Wimbledon. They are two truly special tournaments for me and I will miss them a lot. We’ll keep working to come back as soon as possible! ❤️,” the Spaniard captioned his post.

The 23-year-old was showered with love from the tennis community after his announcement, with Jakub Menšík, Maria Sharapova, Marta Kostyuk, and Aryna Sabalenka’s fiancé, Georgios Frangulis, all sending him messages of support.
“Carlos! All the best!❤️ Be strong!,” Menšík commented.
“You will come back stronger 💪,” Sharapova commented.
“Speedy recovery 💔😢,” Kostyuk wrote.
“Back stronger than ever soon brother, Vamos!,” Frangulis shared.

Meanwhile, Serena Williams’ former coach, Rennae Stubbs, and Coco Gauff’s former coach, Brad Gilbert, expressed their dismay over the news while wishing Alcaraz a speedy recovery.
“This truly makes me sad! For everyone but the saddest for @carlosalcaraz! Carlito we miss you sooooooo much,” Stubbs posted on X.
“Massive bummer news on Escape from Alcaraz pulling out of grass court swing, hopefully 🙏 he will be back this summer, way better at his age to not to rush back and be 💯 when ready to go,” Gilbert wrote.
Carlos Alcaraz, who fell short against Jannik Sinner in last year’s Wimbledon final, will miss the opportunity to battle for a third title at SW19. The tennis world will be hoping to see the world No. 2 back in action during the North American hard-court swing ahead of his title defense at the US Open, though the timeline for his comeback remains uncertain.
