Jeff Teague, a former NBA All-Star and NBA champion, made headlines on Tuesday with his bold claim that he would drop 100 points in a WNBA game.
Teague, who played 12 years in the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks, Indiana Pacers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics, and Milwaukee Bucks, was adamant that he’d put up “Wilt Chamberlain numbers” against WNBA competiton.
Basketball World Makes Feelings Clear on Jeff Teague’s Claim That He’d Drop 100 Points in WNBA
Teague made the claim on the latest episode of the “Club 520” podcast.
“I’d have Wilt Chamberlain numbers. I’d score 100,” Teague said. “I’m playing the whole game. I’d score 100 points… No disrespect to them, but I’m 215 [pounds], bro. A’ja Wilson probably weigh 200… Sh*t, she probably weigh about 170. A’ja getting 46 and this is no disrespect; you are cold. They can’t check her, they damn sure can’t check me. 100 ball! Caitlin Clark averaging 20!”

The basketball world had strong reactions to Teague’s latest controversial take. Onyx posted a hilarious meme depicting the WNBA completely disregarding Teague’s opinion.

One user pointed to Teague’s career-high in the NBA being 34 points as evidence that he wouldn’t be able to score 100 points in the W. Over the course of Teague’s 12-year NBA career, he averaged 12.2 points per game at 44.4% shooting from the field.
“Teague talking about ‘Wilt numbers’ when his NBA career high was a quiet 34 points is actually hilarious,” they wrote.

One WNBA podcaster pointed out why Teague’s statement was problematic.
“Yall not sick of this convo? Jeff was a solid player but at no point in his professional career was he best player on his team or the #1 option – you couldn’t dominate the league that was built for you but want to bring up hypotheticals of dawging women in the W? Odd,” they wrote.
Someone else opined that statements like this come across as unoriginal and tiresome amid all the progress the WNBA has made in recent years.
“This don’t get corny after a while?” they wrote.
One fan called out the misogyny rooted in Teague’s bold claim.
“At a certain point you gotta wonder if these rants are a result of deeply rooted misogyny,” they wrote.

However, not everyone was critical of Teague’s statement. Some agreed that he would dominate against WNBA competition, but argued that 100 points is a stretch.
“Jeff Teague out here talking Wilt numbers like the WNBA is summer league pickup. Bro would cook for 60+ easy on size/speed alone, but 100? Calm down king, you’d still be gassed by Q3 while A’ja drops a casual 40 on your head in the 4th. No disrespect, but podcast Teague is undefeated at wild takes,” they wrote.
