Jessica Pegula Proud of Buffalo Sabres’ NHL Playoffs Run Despite Heartbreaking Exit
The Buffalo Sabres enjoyed an incredible journey in the NHL this year, winning the Atlantic Division and ending a 15-year drought by finally making the playoffs. After seeing off the Boston Bruins in the first round of the playoffs, the Lindy Ruff-coached team went up against the Canadiens.
The series went down to the wire, with Game 7 concluding with a thrilling overtime finish in Buffalo. Ultimately, it was the Habs who won 3-2 to secure a spot in the NHL conference finals, where they will face the Carolina Hurricanes.
Pegula, who is a huge Sabres fan, supported them throughout their playoff run despite being in Europe for the clay-court swing. She had also asked her fans on Monday whether she should stay up till 1:30 a.m. in Paris to watch Game 7.
Following the conclusion of the Sabres’ season, Pegula reflected on the team’s incredible run on her Instagram story.
“What a year,” wrote Pegula on her Instagram story.

“Amazing season Buffalo Sabres. Not the ending we wanted but wow what a ride. Fans have been incredible,” she wrote as she shared her pride over the team’s run in another message on X.

Going into the French Open, Pegula holds a 28-6 win-loss record for the year. She has won two titles and reached the quarterfinals at every tournament she has competed in, bar the Madrid Open.
Pegula’s best result at the French Open is a quarterfinal appearance in 2022, and she reached the fourth round last year. She will be determined to improve on that run this year. The draw for the French Open will be made on Thursday, with the second Grand Slam of the year set to begin this Sunday.
