‘He’s Violent’ — Florida’s $931K Weapon Predicted To Be a Problem Despite Shaken QB Situation

The Florida Gators are stepping into the 2026 season with a nerve-wracking cloud of quarterback uncertainty. Yet, amidst the positional battle, national analyst Greg McElroy points out that the identity of the offense is already set in stone. It belongs to Jadan Baugh.

Greg McElroy Praises Florida Running Back Jadan Baugh

McElroy appeared on the latest episode of his “Always College Football” podcast, breaking down film of the 6-foot-1, 231-pound RB carrying a commanding $931K NIL valuation.

He said, “He’s (Jadan Baugh) violent. I mean, he’s aggressive. We know that. We know he’s super physical. This guy is violent at 231 pounds. This guy is, he looks like a linebacker running the football. Now, he really punishes people who choose to meet him in the hole. But the funny thing is, at 231 pounds, you’d expect him to be a downhill power back. Well, he actually has a lot of wiggle as well.”

Baugh proved that a year ago. Operating in an anemic 2025 Florida offense that ranked 102nd nationally in total yards, Baugh was the lone bright spot.

As a true sophomore, he carved up defenses to the tune of 1,170 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns, while adding 33 receptions for 210 yards and 2 scores. All of that happened while Florida struggled at the quarterback position.

Florida’s athletic department drew a line in the sand this offseason, firing Billy Napier and hiring proven winner Jon Sumrall as head coach. Sumrall made an immediate splash by poaching Buster Faulkner from Georgia Tech to serve as his offensive coordinator.

McElroy revealed that throughout spring practices, Faulkner has unveiled a highly creative, versatile system designed to weaponize Baugh’s unique skill set. The Gators are experimenting with multiple-back sets, lining Baugh up out wide as a receiver, utilizing empty formations, and even drawing up Wildcat packages where Baugh receives direct snaps.

Following structural shifts, the quarterback job has devolved into an unresolved spring battle between redshirt freshman Tramell Jones Jr. and redshirt sophomore Aaron Philo, who followed Faulkner from Georgia Tech.

While a split quarterback room would usually spell doom in the SEC, McElroy insists Baugh can carry the load solo.

“There is a little uncertainty at quarterback right now,” McElroy concluded. “But the one thing that’s not, when it comes to the Florida backfield, that’s Jadan Baugh. He doesn’t necessarily need to have a super clean quarterback situation to be great.”

Florida enters the 2026 season with a volatile, high-ceiling outlook. The schedule remains an SEC gauntlet, but the programmatic shift under Sumrall and Faulkner offers a vision of stability the previous regime lacked.
