The future of NBA icon LeBron James will likely dominate headlines during the upcoming NBA offseason.
There is speculation that James may part ways with the Los Angeles Lakers if he returns for a 24th season. Notably, James antagonist and Phoenix Suns wing Dillon Brooks recently shared his thoughts on James’ legacy, angering many fans in the process.
Dillon Brooks Shares Incorrect Fact About LeBron James
Brooks was asked his thoughts on James’ future while streaming and used the opportunity to take a shot at James while praising NBA icon Michael Jordan. Brooks said, “Jordan legacy, I think he’s just more efficient. He has more championships, he’s got more clutch wins. He won three championships in a row. LeBron never two-peated.”
Brooks outraged several James fans by making the incorrect statement that James never won consecutive championships.
HoodiiBron blasted Brooks on X, saying, “This is why I just don’t entertain LeBron haters cuz they hardly ever even get their facts right.” James won back-to-back championships in 2012 and 2013 as a member of a star-studded Miami Heat team.
James was named league MVP and Finals MVP in 2012 after the Heat beat the Oklahoma City Thunder and completed the feat again in 2013, winning league MVP and Finals MVP as the Heat defeated the San Antonio Spurs.

James fan account 5thringontheway offered an even stronger response on X, saying, “This is how 99% of people are in the goat debate. Just a stupid a** who doesn’t even know the facts of what he’s debating just that he’s been brainwashed into thinking it’s MJ. Dillion Brooks can go to hell.”

Brooks is far from the only person who thinks Jordan is superior to James. Jordan has the edge in championships and was swept out of the playoffs only twice, while James was swept out of the playoffs for the fourth time recently.

It’s possible Brooks is trolling James, something that has helped him become one of the league’s most notorious villains over the last few years. Brooks infamously called James old in 2023 and has occasionally succeeded in getting James to react on the court.

There have been instances in the past when athletes have admitted they don’t follow the sport when they aren’t playing.
Top NBA big man Anthony Davis shared a few years ago that he doesn’t follow the NBA unless it’s connected to an upcoming opponent. However, the possibility remains that Brooks knows the truth and simply found an easy way to get attention.
Brooks hopes James will decide to play another season, which will likely lead to more infamous moments between them.
