Casper Ruud has been enjoying another dominant run on clay, making the final of the Italian Open. The Norwegian has often credited his partner, Maria, for his success. She has often been seen cheering him on at tournaments around the world, and on Sunday, she was also in Rome for the Italian Open final alongside his parents.
All About Casper Ruud’s Relationship With Partner Maria
Ruud burst onto the tennis scene in 2018, and that is also the year he started dating Maria. The tennis star and his partner made their relationship official on social media in November 2018.
They have been together ever since and got engaged in November 2024. Ruud and his partner reportedly tied the knot at a small ceremony with friends and family in December 2025. A month later, their daughter was born on the day of the Australian Open semifinal between Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev, a story that Ruud shared during his run at the Italian Open.
Ruud spoke during the interview about how being a father has been life-changing and has given him a new perspective.
“It’s definitely life-changing, and off-the-court definitely for the better. I try to do my job on the court and a couple of extra things to think about, but I try to leave it for time off the court. She just brings a good smile on my face when I see her when I come back to the hotels and back home. I look forward to everything that comes with fatherhood in years to come,” he said on Tennis Channel.

In addition to their daughter, they also have a dog named Bajas. The dog was born in 2020 and has its own Instagram account with more than 3,000 followers.
A force to be reckoned with on clay, Ruud has enjoyed plenty of success in tennis over the years. He reached the French Open finals twice and the US Open final in 2022. The former world No. 2’s partner has been by his side throughout that journey. She was also in the stands to cheer him on when he won the Madrid Open last year, his first ATP Masters 1000 title.

Maria, who holds a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Southern Denmark, also holds a background in sports nutrition.
Meanwhile, Ruud is finding his best form on clay once again this year. He has hardly put a foot wrong so far at the Italian Open, claiming five dominant wins en route to the final. With the French Open on the horizon, the 27-year-old will have his sights set on another deep run at Roland Garros this year.
