Debates about the greatest of all time are deeply embedded in sports culture. Names like Tom Brady, LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Lionel Messi, Novak Djokovic, and Serena Williams are constantly brought up in discussions about greatness.
Robert Griffin III Reveals His GOAT Snack
Taking to X on Saturday, Griffin reignited a wave of childhood nostalgia by sharing a picture of Betty Crocker’s Scooby-Doo fruit snacks, a favorite among kids growing up in the 1990s and 2000s.
“Real ones know these Scooby Doo Gummies are the Greatest of All-Time,” Griffin wrote.
His post quickly sparked debate in the comments section, with Griffin actively interacting with fans about their own snack rankings.
When one user replied, “Gushers are better but those are still a top 5 and respectable,” Griffin asked for their full rankings. In the fan’s list, Scooby-Doo Gummies landed at No. 5, while Gushers took the top spot.
Another user partially agreed with Griffin and called the snack a “top 3 fruit snack.”
“Used to do trades with these at school 🤣,” Griffin responded.
One fan leaned fully into the nostalgia factor, writing, “My aunt and uncle would have these available on special occasions! The best! Childhood nostalgia!”
Griffin himself had one of the most exciting starts to an NFL career in recent memory. After being selected by Washington, he led the franchise to the Wild Card round during his rookie season in 2012 and won Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.
However, injuries quickly derailed the Heisman Trophy winner’s career. By 2017, Griffin had fallen out of the spotlight and later claimed he had been blackballed by coaches, even considering a switch to track and field.

However, his NFL journey was not over yet. Griffin signed with the Baltimore Ravens in 2018 as Lamar Jackson’s backup and spent three seasons with the team. He appeared in three games in 2018, seven in 2019, and four in 2020 before being waived in 2021.
After retiring from football, Griffin transitioned into broadcasting, working as an NFL analyst for ESPN before eventually moving into podcasting.
Griffin Still Believes Tom Brady Is the NFL GOAT
While Griffin may have settled the snack debate in his mind, he still believes Tom Brady remains the NFL’s greatest player of all time ahead of Patrick Mahomes.
Before the 2025 Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, Griffin argued that Mahomes would surpass Brady in the GOAT conversation if he managed to complete a historic three-peat.
“I’m sure you guys have heard this argument before, it’s the whole Michael Jordan–Bill Russell situation,” Griffin said on the Dan Patrick show.
“But I think it’s not even the four, because I think the fact that he’d be the first quarterback to three-peat. I think that makes (his) four (Super Bowls) greater than (Brady’s) seven because he’s done something that’s never been done. And why do we say Brady’s the GOAT? Because he’s done something that’s never been done before.
“So if you can do something that even Brady couldn’t accomplish, that to me, in seven years, four in seven years with a three-peat? Yeah, that makes you the GOAT. You’re the greatest of all-time. He’s already the most talented we’ve ever seen.”
However, Mahomes failed to achieve that milestone as the Chiefs suffered a lopsided 40-22 loss. Although Mahomes continued to impress during the following season, his campaign was eventually cut short by LCL and ACL injuries, while Kansas City also missed the playoffs.
Griffin has not publicly revisited the debate since then, but Brady’s seven Super Bowl titles still remain the standard Mahomes is chasing.
For now, Griffin seems far more certain about the snack GOAT debate than the NFL one, and judging by the reaction online, plenty of fans are standing with him on Scooby-Doo Gummies.
