Caitlin Clark is officially back in the spotlight after missing a major chunk of the 2025 season due to a groin injury that limited her to just 13 appearances. The 24-year-old superstar put on some convincing performances during the offseason, proving her place as one of the WNBA’s most dominating offensive forces.
The superstar’s return to the WNBA floor has been much-awaited, especially since the roster around her looks much stronger now. The Indiana Fever finally look like they could make a deep run in the postseason, after their impressive form last year, even without Clark.
Caitlin Clark Is Available for the Indiana Fever vs. Washington Mystics
The Fever are currently placed 6th in the Eastern Conference with a 1-1 record. With Friday night’s game against the Washington Mystics, Caitlin Clark is expected to be available to play at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on May 15. The game’s tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
In their season opener, the Indiana Fever faced a 104-107 loss to the Dallas Wings on Saturday, May 9. Clark logged in 31 minutes, finishing with 20 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds. The 7-of-18 field shooting (38.9%) and 2-of-9 from deep (22.2%) reflected a player’s search for their old rhythm after a long layoff.
After the game against the Wings, Caitlin Clark told the media, “It’s going to take me a little bit to really get over this mental hurdle of trusting my body.”
During the third quarter, Clark scored her 1,000th career point in just 54 games, making her one of the fastest players to reach the milestone.
Despite the lackluster shooting against the Wings, she looked significantly better in the Fever’s last game against the LA Sparks, where she shot 52.9% and scored 24 points and 9 assists, to secure the Fever’s first victory of 2026 (87-78). Still, the 1-of-7 from deep was far from Clark’s explosive style.
The 11 turnovers that Clark committed in the two games do pose a point of concern, as they showcase a small crack in the Fever’s grand scheme for this season.
They’ll have to work on it if they wish to fulfill their championship dream. With Cailin Clark back on the court, the Fever’s rotation is powered by Kelsey Mitchell, Sophie Cunningham, and Aliyah Boston.
Clark’s shooting and playmaking prowess will certainly be crucial in their upcoming match against the Mystics, providing them with an opportunity to gain some momentum early on in the season.
