Jannik Sinner has continued his unreal clay-court campaign run at the 2026 Italian Open. The home hero has eased past his opponents so far to advance to the quarterfinals.
With his latest win, Sinner has joined Novak Djokovic in an enviable all-time record at Masters 1000 events.
Jannik Sinner Extends Streak at the Italian Open
Sinner is on a 26-match winning streak at tour level. The Italian has thus far enjoyed a clean sweep at the 2026 Masters events, winning trophies in Indian Wells, Miami, Monte-Carlo, and Madrid.
Meanwhile, his Masters 1000 streak dates back to the 2025 Paris Masters. The 24-year-old has won five consecutive titles at the level, creating history as the first man to achieve the feat.
He has now won 31 straight Masters 1000 matches as he extends his unbeaten run at the Italian Open.
The only other player to achieve the feat is Djokovic, who won 31 matches during his generational 2011 run. After winning in Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, Rome, and Montreal, his streak ended in the final of the Cincinnati Open.
Sinner will now look to surpass Djokovic as he chases a place in the semifinal in Rome.
At the tournament, the Italian also stands a chance at completing the Masters 1000 set, having won eight of the nine titles on offer.
Sinner, the top seed, began his campaign with a 6-3, 6-4 win against Sebastian Ofner in the second round. He then eased past Alexei Popyrin with a 6-2, 6-0 score.
