The Mike Vrabel-Dianna Russini situation does not seem to be ending anytime soon. Since we are in the slow part of the NFL offseason, this story has taken over the headlines. More photos and information continue to reveal themselves, and everyone seems to have an opinion on the situation. Some people are starting to feel bad about how much this situation is being covered, mostly due to the significant others of Vrabel and Russini.
They have to listen to this discussed every day, and that cannot be easy. However, some analysts believe Vrabel and Russini should receive no sympathy.
NFL Analysts “Don’t Feel Sorry for Them”
Former member of ESPN First Take, Max Kellerman, made strong comments on the situation, saying, “It’s like there are pictures and the press is trying to create a timeline… without regard to how this affects the spouses, their children,” Kellerman added. “They’re putting these families through hell under the guise of journalistic integrity and ethics, where in fact, that is just an excuse to put out salacious stuff.”
While it is unfortunate that the families are being caught in the crosshairs of the reporting, most of the blame should fall on Vrabel and Russini for their actions. Jones & Keefe on WEEI Boston Radio said, “I have trouble having any real sympathy for (Vrabel & Russini)…they didn’t initially admit wrongdoing, didn’t apologize or really even cop to what happened, yeah I don’t have a lot of sympathy for it.”
Jones & Keefe continued, “One of the top NFL Insiders is hooking up with one of the top NFL head coaches… and then they both immediately denied it, even though she quit her job over the whole thing. This is a big story.”
This story will remain at the forefront of the NFL, at least until the start of the regular season. Many people are wondering how this situation will affect Vrabel’s job security. While this would be a dumb thing to fire Vrabel over, the noise around it could cause too much of a distraction.

As for Russini, she has already quit her job at The Athletic and has been lying low amid all this speculation. She will likely resurface once the NFL season kicks off, but for now, she has personal issues to deal with.
This has been a strange NFL offseason, as no one saw reports of a story like this. At some point, this story will pass over, but it may take until the games start playing for that to happen.
