The Mike Vrabel scandal has reached a fever pitch. Ever since the story first became public, it has spread like wildfire, putting both the New England Patriots’ head coach and Dianna Russini through the wringer.
Unfortunately, more than a month later, the story is still going strong, with more details emerging on the internet. But for veteran analyst and sports media personality Max Kellerman, the coverage has been “disgusting.”

When the pictures from their getaway in Arizona were first released, there was direct pushback from Russini about the insinuation. Still, she resigned from her position at The Athletic while the situation remained a mystery.
Then Vrabel essentially confirmed the speculations when he revealed the tough conversations he’d had, both with his family and the Patriots organization. From Spotify playlists to boat rentals, every news piece reveals another layer to the story.
However, Kellerman, who was previously a host on “First Take,” revealed the problem with the entire situation. “3% of the teams she covers, there’s some kind of bias that might show up, who knows how. That’s true, okay. I’m willing to say that’s legitimate, but that’s not why people are covering the story.”
Instead, he had some harsh words to explain what was truly going on. “They’re using that as a bulls**t excuse to be titillated by an affair. It’s so disgusting to me, because, especially the latest, it comes across my reels, and I’ve worked with Dianna Russini… and it’s on my reel, so I can’t avoid it.”
“It’s like there are pictures and the press is trying to create a timeline… without regard to how this affects the spouses, their children,” Kellerman added. “They’re putting these families through hell under the guise of journalistic integrity and ethics, where in fact, that is just an excuse to put out salacious stuff.”

While the intent might not be in the right place for everybody, the story has become one of the most heated topics in all of sports. As the internet continues to pile on more evidence and clues, the two parties are facing major consequences.

Right now, Russini stepping down from her role has been the biggest repercussion. But, as the noise around a potential change at head coach continues to circle around the Patriots, there is a distinct possibility that the organization, or even Vrabel himself, goes through with it.
