‘F**k That’ — NBA World Reacts to LeBron James’ ‘HEATED’ Exchange With Ex-Lakers Teammate Alex Caruso

LeBron James and Alex Caruso got into a heated exchange during Game 2 between the Lakers and Thunder, and the NBA world reacted.

High tensions, hard fouls, and plenty of yelling defined Thursday night’s Game 2 clash between the Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder.

While talk about the controversial officiating dominated the postgame conversation, a heated exchange between LeBron James and former Lakers teammate Alex Caruso also went viral.

With the Lakers unraveling in the second half of a 125-107 Game 2 loss, James and Caruso got into it during free throws, and the NBA world reacted to the fiery moment.

The incident came in the third quarter with Oklahoma City leading 91-80. As Ajay Mitchell stepped to the line for free throws, James and Caruso could be seen jawing at each other near the lane.

The back-and-forth quickly escalated, with cameras catching James saying, “No AC, f**k that… No AC, I don’t want to hear that sh*t,” while Caruso fired back during the exchange.

The clip spread across social media almost immediately.

Brick Centre shared the video and wrote, “LeBron arguing with Caruso during free throws 😳.”

Hater Report later posted the complete exchange, writing: “LEBRON AND ALEX CARUSO GOING AT IT:

Bron: ‘Every f*cking call. No AC, f*ck that.’

Caruso: ‘I don’t give a f*ck about none of that sh*t.”

Bron: ‘AC I don’t want to hear that sh*t.’”

Lake Show Yo called it a “HEATED discussion,” while one creator joked, “Caruso trying to chirp LeBron after winning a championship with him,” with the meme of James yelling at Houston Rockets center Alperen Şengün from the first round.

James and Caruso played together in Los Angeles from 2017 to 2021, and they won a championship together in 2020.

What makes the timing even more interesting is that Caruso actually praised James before the game, saying the four-time champion is “very capable of being the best player on the court any given night.”

Leading up to this exchange, James had already been frustrated with the officiating throughout the night, and things boiled over after Austin Reaves found James for a basket over Caruso earlier in the third quarter.

Later in the game, James bumped into Caruso hard enough to send him to the floor, drawing a foul and another wave of reactions online.

One account posted the clip with the caption: “LeBron, Redick, and Luka Doncic can’t believe it!! All animated and laughing after a ridiculous flop by Alex Caruso!! Refs reward him with a whistle!! 🤯🤯 What has happened to NBA basketball!? 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭”

Also, Thursday’s exchange was not completely out of nowhere. Back in February, James and Caruso had another heated moment during a regular-season meeting, with cameras catching the two former teammates going at it.

The Thunder now lead this series 2-0 and remain undefeated in this year’s playoffs after winning the NBA title last season.

Meanwhile, the Lakers are suddenly staring at a 0-2 hole despite another heavy workload from James, who finished with 23 points, 6 assists and 3 steals while becoming the first player in league history to appear in 300 postseason games.

With Luka Dončić still sidelined, James has carried much of the offensive burden for Los Angeles, but his frustration was on display throughout Thursday’s game.

Caruso, now in his second season with Oklahoma City after joining the team in 2024, ended the game with only 5 points. But he proved his usefulness with 2 timely steals.

That includes one tension-filled fourth-quarter steal that saw James shove Caruso near midcourt, but the Thunder guard stayed with the play, managed to poke the ball loose, and quickly pushed it ahead to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for a transition basket. As Oklahoma City broke the other way, Marcus Smart fouled Caruso near halfcourt to stop the play.

The series now shifts to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Saturday, and the Lakers will try to earn their first victory and avoid an 0-3 hole.
