Zverev vs CerĂșndolo Head-to-Head History

These two players have met on seven occasions over the last two years, with Zverev holding a 4-3 head-to-head lead. CerĂșndolo has won all three of their previous matches on clay, triumphing twice in Madrid and once in Buenos Aires.

Zverev has enjoyed a decent start to his clay-court season. The German made the semifinals in Monte-Carlo before losing to eventual champion Jannik Sinner in straight sets. He needed three sets to overcome Miomir Kecmanović in the first round in Munich but raced to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Gabriel Diallo to secure his spot in the quarterfinals.

CerĂșndolo has hardly put a foot wrong so far in Munich, cruising past Sumit Nagal and Botic van de Zandschulp to secure his place in the quarterfinals. He already has one clay-court title to his name this season (Argentina Open) and looks primed to cause problems for Zverev on Friday.

Last week, the 27-year-old showcased his clay-court prowess in Monte-Carlo with a straight-sets win over Stefanos Tsitsipas. But he was stopped in his tracks in the second round by Tomáơ Macháč.

Zverev vs CerĂșndolo Match Details

Zverev is one of the top players on clay and a three-time champion at the BMW Open. But CerĂșndolo also holds an impressive record on the surface, with three titles and a 62% win rate. His wide range of shots and ability to move well while dictating rallies make him a very potent threat on clay.

The Argentinian will also take confidence from his three wins over Zverev on the surface. But the home advantage should give the German a big boost as he looks to successfully retain his title in Munich.

Zverev has also beaten CerĂșndolo twice already this year (in Miami and Melbourne) and will fancy his chances of coming out on top once again when the two meet on Friday. This should be a close contest, but we are backing the top seed to prevail.

Pick – Zverev in three sets.
