Taylor Fritz Leaves Tennis Community Guessing With Cryptic Message During ATP Tour Break

Taylor Fritz, who is recovering from injury, left his followers wondering after sharing a cryptic post about his SSOB blunder on social media.

Taylor Fritz shared a peculiar social media post amid his break from the ATP Tour. The 28-year-old posted a picture of his infamous 2025 US Open fashion faux pas, leaving his followers guessing what he meant.

Regarded as one of the top American tennis players, Fritz has been dealing with a knee injury for some time now. He also had to delay the start of his clay-court season due to injury as he pulled out of the Monte-Carlo Masters. He also recently withdrew from the ATP 500 in Munich.

Taylor Fritz Sends Cryptic Message Amid Tennis Absence

As he continues to recover from his injury struggles, Fritz shared a cryptic post on social media on Sunday.

“Remember this? Kinda wild I’ve been trying to put you onto something since September…,” he captioned his post on X, alongside a photo of himself from the 2025 US Open.

The curious post left his 165,000 followers wondering what he might be alluding to. Some fans wondered why he might have referred to his SSOB / BOSS blunder during his loss to Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals of the 2025 US Open. Fritz went viral for unknowingly wearing his BOSS headband upside down for that match, and the logo read SSOB. Hugo Boss later turned the faux pas into a marketing campaign.

Fritz was last on the court at the Miami Open, where he made the fourth round before losing to Jiří Lehečka. He also made an early exit at Indian Wells, suffering a straight-sets loss to Alex Michelsen in the third round.

Ahead of the Miami Open, Fritz spoke about the knee issue that has been bothering him for some time now. “We said, after Miami if we’re not seeing big improvements, it might be time to slow down a bit on the playing and get it healed 100 percent. Because if there was a portion of the season that I think I’d be more OK missing, it would be the clay-court season, like I did last year,” he said via tennis.com.

Despite his absence from the ATP Tour due to injury, Fritz is set to move up the rankings when they are next updated on Monday. The California native will move up to world No. 8 ahead of Lorenzo Musetti and Daniil Medvedev. He finds himself within 30 ranking points of Alex de Minaur and compatriot Ben Shelton.

Fans will hope to see Fritz back on the court soon, even if American tennis legend Andy Roddick advised his compatriot to skip the clay-court season amid his lingering knee issue.
