After just one season with the Kansas State, P.J. Haggerty is on the move again. The guard will have no shortage of options as he enters the transfer portal and looks for his fifth college team in as many years.
Haggerty was the fourth-leading scorer in the NCAA this season, behind only AJ Dybantsa, Jordan Riley, and Darius Acuff Jr. He has averaged more than 20 points per game in each of the last three seasons, and his sharpshooting could make him a very attractive option for teams looking to bolster their backcourt.
While defense is not his strong suit, Haggerty can guard multiple positions. With the point guard in the transfer portal, we consider his possible landing spots for next season.
Could LSU Land P.J. Haggerty?
LSU head coach Will Wade wanted to land Haggerty last year while at NC State, and is said to be a huge fan of the guard.
The Tigers have not made the NCAA Tournament in the last four years, and someone with the high-volume scoring ability of Haggerty could certainly help the team.
There are already murmurs that LSU is in contention to sign Haggerty (via On3). And if Wade hands him the keys to the team’s offense, the 21-year-old could run with it.
Could Haggerty Return to Memphis?
This one may not be the most realistic, but a return to Memphis would make sense for Haggerty, who earned the AAC Player of the Year Award during his year with the Tigers.

Haggerty averaged 21.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.8 steals for Memphis in 2024-25. He is already familiar with the system Penny Hardaway has in place, which emphasizes guards who can score and create.
The AAC may seem like a step down for Haggerty and could possibly hurt his draft stock if he does have NBA aspirations. But at the same time, a return to Memphis would give him the spotlight to shine and make an elite impact.
Arkansas Could Make Sense For Haggerty
Looking to replace the NBA-bound Acuff, John Calipari could turn to Haggerty. He is a high-usage guard who is a proven scorer and is highly skilled at creating his own scoring opportunities.
Haggerty is also capable of drawing fouls and playing pick-and-rolls, which makes him an exciting prospect. The Arkansas Razorbacks would also give Haggerty an excellent platform to showcase his potential in the SEC and establish himself as a top prospect if he aims to declare for the 2027 NBA Draft.
One possible concern could be him being a fifth-year guard, but it could well be a gamble worth taking for Arkansas as it looks to make a deep NCAA Tournament run next year.
