Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev Turn to Coaching Ahead of Monte-Carlo Masters

Sinner will be competing at the Monte Carlo Country Club in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France, as the second seed, with World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz returning as the defending champion and top seed. The 24-year-old from Innichen, Italy, dominated both the Indian Wells Open and the Miami Open, securing his legacy by taking home both titles.

In Indian Wells, he surpassed World No. 10 Daniil Medvedev in the final, and at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, he defeated world No. 14 Jiří Lehečka. Sinner did not play the ATP Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo in his last season, but he reached the quarterfinals in 2022. His best performances at the tournament came in 2023 and 2024, when he reached the semifinals.

Ahead of his round-of-32 clash, the Italian turned into an admirable coach, guiding a little girl to make flawless shots with him against a scenic backdrop. In the caption, the message highlighted Sinner’s new role: “Jannik Sinner maestro di tennis per un giorno 🫶 (Jannik Sinner tennis coach for a day).”

After winning the Sunshine Double, the Italian reflected on his mindset and approach while moving forward to the clay-court season.

Sinner shared after his Miami title win, “I don’t have a lot of time to adjust, playing on clay, if I want to play Monaco. I have always been someone who thinks in a very present moment. I don’t look in front, but I also don’t look backwards.”

He also mentioned his contentment with his performances at Miami and Indian Wells, and his staying positive and open-minded about the outcomes at the Monte-Carlo Masters.

He added, “Whatever comes, comes. I’m very happy about these couple of tournaments, and now a new chapter starts with the clay again. Let’s see how it goes.”

Meanwhile, Zverev was also captured playing admirably with a little boy next to the Italian, who was playing with a little girl. The German is competing at the tournament as the third seed, behind Alcaraz and Sinner, the top seeds.

Along with his singles category, Zverev is also playing doubles with his partner, Marcelo Melo, with whom he won the Mexican Open doubles title. Sinner is also playing doubles with Zizou Bergs, the former world No. 39.
