The final chapter has yet to be written for 33-year-old pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney.
After his lone season with the Dallas Cowboys, Clowney, a three-time Pro Bowler, is still on the open market awaiting his next opportunity.
Jadeveon Clowney Welcomes a Reunion with the Ravens
A former No. 1 overall pick of the Houston Texans, Clowney has played for seven different teams in the last eight seasons. The only city that he was able to call home for more than a single year in that span was Cleveland, when he played for the Browns from 2021 through 2022.
Despite remaining productive at the majority of his stops along the way, Clowney has become the true definition of a journeyman. That journey could lead him back to Baltimore in 2026 and, if he plays well into the twilight of his career, potentially beyond.
It was with the Ravens that Clowney prospered with one of his best statistical seasons in 2023. He played in all 17 games, tying a career-high of 9.5 sacks for a single season. He also played in both of the Ravens’ playoff contests, sacking Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the AFC Championship Game.
According to PFSN’s EDGE Impact Metric, Clowney finished the 2023 NFL season as the 14th-ranked player at his position with an impact score of 84.9, which is his highest mark over the past five seasons.
“They take pride in their defense,” Clowney said in an interview with Click2Houston.com. “I enjoyed the locker room. The guys that was in the locker room was an extremely fun group of guys. A lot of leaders was on that team, a lot of guys that respect the game of football.
“They got a lot of good guys that I can relate to in that locker room,” Clowney added. “I’ll definitely be open to going back to Baltimore, playing with Lamar Jackson now. It was a great time for me.”
The Ravens are on the heels of two lucrative investments at defensive end this offseason, but only one of them actually transpired. They tried to trade with the Las Vegas Raiders for All-Pro Maxx Crosby in a deal that included multiple first-round selections. However, Crosby’s physical with the Ravens left team brass apprehensive, so they backed out of the deal before it became official.

Consequently, they signed another former All-Pro, Trey Hendrickson, to a four-year, $112 million deal with $60 million guaranteed.
At this stage of his career, Clowney isn’t going to be expensive, so it’d be plausible for the Ravens to take a swing on the familiar face. The biggest deal he’s signed in recent years was the two-year contract with the Carolina Panthers in 2024. Other than that, Clowney has mostly been playing on affordable, one-year contracts. His deal with the Cowboys last year was worth just $3.45 million.
