After opting out of on-field drills during the 2026 NFL Combine, highly touted prospect Jermod McCoy is back with a bang. Late in February, the Tennessee Volunteers cornerback attended the combine, speaking with the media but not participating due to a torn ACL suffered in January 2025.
Jermod McCoy Impresses During Tennessee Volunteers Pro Day
While speaking to the media during the combine, McCoy said he wanted to wait until Tennessee’s Pro Day to perform drills despite having “no limits.” Now, the wait is over, and McCoy’s Pro Day results speak for themselves.
With scouts in attendance, McCoy recorded a rapid 40-yard dash, showing no signs of the lingering injury and impressing NFL insider Field Yates.
From a scout in attendance at Tennessee pro day: CB Jermod McCoy ran a 40 just once, with scouts cooking him in the range of 4.37-4.40.
Huge for a top 15 player in the class.

Yates does not seem to be the only one impressed, as another X user joins the conversation, expressing his intrigue at taking McCoy into the top 15 as well. “Yeah, Jermod McCoy has some wheels,” said Matt Owen. “I’m 100% on board to pick him at 12.”

Further building on his impressive Pro Day return, former NFL scout Brentley Weissman wrote, “I don’t see how McCoy gets out of the top 15. 2024 tape was better than Delane’s 2025 IMO. My CB1.”‘
Weissman touches on LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane, who is a projected first-year NFL starter. Comparing the two, Weissman sees McCoy’s most recent season as more impressive than Delane’s.
Not participating in the combine may have raised concerns; however, there is little to no doubt about the six-career-interception man after Tuesday. “Jermod McCoy blazed a 4.38 at Tennessee’s Pro Day,” wrote the Scouts Vision X account. “Box checked.”

The box of McCoy’s health was indeed checked, and the speedy 6-footer has confirmed his first-round draft evaluation. “WE ARE SO BACK,” wrote another X user.
This reaction comes in response to insider Adam Schefter’s post detailing McCoy’s 40-yard dash time and additional impressive drill numbers.
Tennessee CB Jermod McCoy, a projected first-round pick who did not play this past season while recovering from an ACL tear, just ran a 4.38 40 with a 38” vertical jump at 10’7” broad jump at the school’s pro day.

Another response to Schefter’s eye-opening post shows further attention to a man who could cause potential chaos in the opening round of the upcoming draft. “Don’t mind me just #noticing,” said an X user.

Using the PFSN Mock Draft Simulator, McCoy falls as expected, at 10th overall to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Ironically, in this mock draft rendition, McCoy goes one spot ahead of the aforementioned Delane. The 2026 NFL Draft begins Thursday, April 23, where there will be endless levels of anticipation for where the 20-year-old lands.
