The Baltimore Ravens are entering a new era of the franchise under new head coach Jesse Minter. The former defensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Chargers has some big shoes to fill with the departure of longtime, Super Bowl-winning head coach John Harbaugh.
Despite taking on such an important role for one of the NFL’s top franchises, Minter has already endeared himself to the city of Baltimore, even serving as a guest “splasher” during the Baltimore Orioles’ Opening Day festivities. Minter is getting a crash course in the other aspects of the job, including addressing the media on roster-related issues.
What Ravens Head Coach Jesse Minter Said About Nnamdi Madubuike’s Injury Status
The 28-year-old star defensive tackle, Nnamdi Madubuike, suffered a season-ending neck injury last year, and while the injury itself is concerning, the lack of updates on the 2-time Pro Bowler has only raised suspicions. The lack of a clear timeline or concrete updates has led some to believe that Madubuike had actually retired from the NFL.
Things have not exactly cleared up about Madubuike following Minter’s update about the star defensive tackle. The new Ravens head coach spoke to the media this week, offering a slight update on his injured defensive standout but remaining rather vague.
Jeff Zrebiec from The Athletic-Baltimore wrote on X, “Minter said the team will have more injury updates later in offseason program. He said Nnamdi Madubuikeās status is āTBDā and declined to say whether thereās growing optimism about his status āHeās in a great place mentally.ā”

“That’s still kind of a to be determined thing, I would say,” Minter told reporters. “We certainly, as an organization, have Plan A, Plan B, Plan C, Plan D, all the way down the line. We’ll be excited whichever way that goes,” he continued.
It’s unclear when the Ravens or Madubuike himself will provide news on the superstar’s future; however, Minter’s response is difficult to unpack given how little information he shared.
Last season, Madubuike looked strong yet again, recording 2 sacks in the only 2 games that he was able to appear in for the Ravens. It will be disappointing if Madubuike indeed retires for a number of reasons, including how dominant he can be when healthy and in the lineup. No matter what happens, he can reflect on his tremendous 6-year NFL career so far.
