Rafael Nadal, Wife Maria Along With Their Sons Enjoy ‘Special’ Family Time in Exumas

Rafael Nadal once again embraced a peaceful family getaway in the Exumas, continuing his post-retirement tradition of unwinding with loved ones. The 22-time Grand Slam champion was joined by his wife, Maria Francisca Perelló, and their sons. The trip was made more special by the presence of his father, Sebastián Nadal, his sister, María Isabel Nadal, and several close family members.

Nadal carved out a legacy that firmly places him among the sport’s all-time greats, highlighted by storied rivalries with Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer that helped define an era.

The Spaniard stepped away from professional tennis in November 2024, concluding a career that featured 92 ATP singles titles, including 22 Grand Slams. His dominance on clay, marked by 14 French Open titles, earned him the moniker “King of Clay.”

Now away from the demands of the ATP Tour, Nadal is embracing a more relaxed pace of life. He continues to prioritize time with his family, often embarking on memorable getaways, much like his trip to Japan last year, which stood out as a particularly special experience.

Continuing that tradition, Nadal recently visited the beaches of Exuma in the Bahamas. He shared a carousel of images on Instagram, with the opening frame showing him alongside his wife and their two sons, whose faces were blurred. Notably, the couple’s younger son, Miquel, was born Aug. 7, 2025, in Mallorca.

The series also featured Nadal with his father, sister, and other relatives. The location clearly resonated with him, as he expressed gratitude for nature’s beauty while stressing the importance of preserving such places for future generations. He captioned the post:

“Recently I spent very special days with my family in Exumas. A unique place, full of beautiful nature. We are very lucky to enjoy places like this, and it reminds us how important it is to protect them for the future. Always grateful for these moments with my family!” He captioned the post.

Beyond family life, Nadal remains actively involved in the sport through the Rafa Nadal Academy in Manacor, which he established in 2016. The facility continues to play a central role in his post-retirement journey, with his uncle and former coach, Toni Nadal, serving as ambassador, and his sister, María Isabel Nadal, taking a leading role in management.

The academy’s footprint has expanded globally, with centers operating in Kuwait, Greece, Marbella, Mexico, and Egypt.
