Belinda Bencic Calls Jannik Sinner’s Soccer Moment With Her Daughter ‘Sweet’

The Swiss star faced third-ranked American Anisimova in the fourth round of the 2026 Miami Open at Grandstand on Monday, March 23. The World No. 6 had a slight edge over Bencic entering the match, with PFSN’s exclusive interactive simulator predicting a 60% chance of her qualifying for the quarterfinals.

However, the World No. 12 totally flipped the script to dominate Anisimova with a 6-2, 6-2 win to reach her first quarterfinal of this season. During her on-court interview after the fourth-round match, the interviewer asked Bencic about the interaction between Sinner and her daughter, Bella, asking how “neat” it was for both of them.

“Yes, it was so sweet, Jannik is very sweet to her, and she’s very skeptical at everyone, so I hope later she can realize who was talking to her,” Bencic said while referring to the hesitant nature of her daughter.

In the original video, Sinner was walking past Bella, who was looking at her mother, not knowing where her ball had gone. The Italian saw this and passed the ball toward her, leaving her confused while her mother asked her to pass it back to Sinner. The World No. 2 squatted down in front of the 2-year-old, taking the ball, trying to get her to play with him.

Bencic instructed her to pass it to Sinner, but, as her mother mentioned, the “skeptical” baby just kept examining the Italian. He even tried to get a high-five from Bella, but when there was no sign of interest, he laughed, petted her head, and left.

Speaking more about this incident, Bencic said, “I think it’s a very sweet interaction also for me. So, it was nice to see.” This shows that despite being on the women’s tour, the Swiss still had respect for one of the most dominant men from the ATP Tour and his sweet gesture toward her daughter.

Who Will Belinda Bencic and Jannik Sinner Play Next in Miami?

Bencic sent Anisimova back home, thanks to her dominant serving performance. She landed 87% of her first serves, winning 72% of those points.

She won all her service games while breaking Anisimova four times in eight service games, showing her dominant form. Bencic took a 3-2 lead in the first set and then won the next three consecutive games to secure the first set 6-2.

The second set saw the Swiss secure two consecutive breaks to reel off to a formidable 5-1 lead, and then serve out the match to secure a 6-2, 6-2 win. She will now take on the top-ranked American, Coco Gauff, with a 40% chance of reaching the semifinals.

Sinner, on the other hand, is riding great momentum, fresh off his title run in Indian Wells. He faced Bosnian star Damir Džumhur in the second-round match, securing a comfortable 6-3, 6-3 win. In the next match, he faced the 30th seed, Corentin Moutet, on Monday, March 23, and delivered another impressive performance, winning 6-1, 6-4.

He will now take on the American star Alex Michelsen today, on March 24, on Stadium Court. PFSN’s exclusive interactive simulator predicts a 93% chance of Sinner winning the match and reaching another quarterfinal, in hopes of winning another Miami Open title, which he did in 2024.
